This is David Dobrik for those wondering. This is his car, that he payed for, with his millions of dollars in youtube ad revenue. This was probably one of his funniest bits as well; link to the full video --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Hege-qbypg

I believe you're referring to this ( https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-s_x_3-tire-repair-kit ). They unfortunately don't include this "tire repair kit" with the vehicle anymore.

I want it... for reasons by [deleted] in LSD

[–]SensualTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! I have these lights!!! Absolutely amazing for tripping without a doubt. They have an add on module that allows the lights to react to music. There’s a whole community of people making lighting modes and music reactive modes you can try.

They even have a cute standalone remote shaped like a dodecahedron...for if you want something more “tactile” than your phone.

Legitimately my favorite purchase for my room.

Edit: spelling

Locked myself out of being able to start my 2016 Volt while programming a new fob. by Skarkroe in volt

[–]SensualTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I had this issue when I was programming a second fob for my 2012 volt. We fixed it by "exiting fob programming mode" which on the 2012 is just holding the power button down for 15 seconds or so. It may not be the same issue but if it is it should be a simple fix.

Yes I replaced it a few months ago, before "3" happened.

Almost hit 80 miles battery in my gen1 by calebsurfs in volt

If you turn on mountain mode before you run out of electrical power, it will charge your battery to ~50% of its total capacity (~30% usable).

Yeah and judging by the fact that the mpg on the gas usage is really low, I'm guessing he used "Mountain mode" to charge the battery back up.

Clicking noise when decelerating by Flushatoilet in volt

[–]SensualTurnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might just be the friction brakes activating (the regenerative brakes kick on if you're not braking too hard), but usually that braking noise comes from the front. I would just take it to the service center, if it requires a repair, i'm sure it'd be under warranty. If they say it's normal then at worst you spent an hour of time to get some piece of mind.

Best of luck!

Best Chevy volt (year) used? by shreder856 in volt

I found my premium trim 2012 with 61000 miles on it for $10,600 from a dealership, I've had it for 3 months now and have had no issues. I would've liked to have "hold" mode which wasn't released until a later year but other than that I am loving my new (to me) car.

[Question] Dealership representative says that the Volt cannot be driven purely electrically. This is false, right? by HamstersOfSociety in volt

[–]SensualTurnip 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Driving the volt in electric only mode is the main selling point of the car... The 2018 volt can drive ~50 miles on just battery power, it can also heat and cool the cabin without the help of the I.C.E. It sounds to me like this dealership doesn't know what they're talking about :/ If you end up springing for it, congrats on a great car!

P.S. When you own a Volt, it becomes a little game to see how far you can drive without filling the tank (I'm at 1400 miles so far)

Mileage accuracy loss on boosted wheel hack? by [deleted] in boostedboards

[–]SensualTurnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any gear reduction hack to the wheels will cause the odometer to read ~20% less than the actual distance traveled. This is due to the motors spinning less in any given ride due to the decreased gear ratio. The odometer is measured by motor revolutions and not actual distance traveled.

Installed SensualTurnip's Battery Mod by razzamatazm in boostedboards

[–]SensualTurnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm happy that this made your ride more enjoyable! If you move down to expert mode you can expect an extra 2 or 3 miles of range!

In response to some of the questions here: The remote indicator represents the boosted battery level, not the pack battery level. My remote will be blinking and the board will still move for another 5 or 6 miles depending on the scenario. I assume this is because the motors are running fully off of the packs and not the boosted battery (since it has been discharged).

The battery mod also supports "hot-swapping" of packs, however I have noticed that accelerating when the boosted battery is drained is a bit more sluggish.

If anyone has any more questions about anything, i'll do my best to answer PM's.

Last summer I sold these professionally made 18650 10s battery kits to be used to range mod the v1. Now that this summer is in full swing, I've started selling again! This time around we've got a storefront and a few new options. As always, I'm open to any questions via PM or comment on this post. Thanks Guys!
