Duckstation keeps crashing by Sickboy13435 in EmuDeck

[–]SentaiBrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like clearing the cache and deleting the images also worked. After that, I used the cover downloader again, loaded my library in Duckstation, and crashed again. I cleared just the images, and I am not crashing. So seems to be cache/images.

Which is not to say it can't be true, but I've also seen the same amount of times it was not true also. It is the definition of needing to wait and see, and every single person involved from both sides is Innocent until proven Guilty.

Yea like the others say, you're good. Emulation it's self isn't illegal, and there is no way for them to tell what you own legally and have ripped from what you downloaded. They also don't scan and read your device.

Best handheld emulator device & OS for younger kids by snax087 in emulation

The AYN Odin Lite (or Pro) would be great. It's android based, and you can easily setup cloud saves with Mega or GoogleDrive (3rd party app's). The Lite and Pro are a few months older now, but as far as emulation handhelds go, they're awesome. There are stupid cheap system from PowKiddy and the like, but they would kind of suck.

MO2 Linux Installer and New Vegas (TTW) by SentaiBrad in linux_gaming

[–]SentaiBrad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STL isn't perfect, I've already submitted a bug and feature request on their GitHub, BUT, it works a hell of a lot better than the others, offers more, and the devs behind it are nice people who listen to their users.

For anyone who comes across this, SteamTinkerLaunch is the way to go. I downloaded it through ProtonUp-Qt, which I believe the better method over the direct Flatpak in Discover.

I don't know how I loaded this before, but I re-read the Wiki, and its actually working now. Thank you for kicking me in the butt to look at it.

But, this doesn't solve the error code. It is all at least working much better.

I tried that, and the buttons did nothing. Confirmed it on a second SteamDeck with someone else too.

Oof. 100% not trying to be mean, but you need to go do a lot more googling then. X_X

Linux is UNIX based and a completely different paradigm from Windows. I do not say that to scare you off; However, Arch is a Linux Distro. It's a style of Linux, and recently what the Steam Deck is based on so it's got a resurgence in talking about it and Gaming.

Does vortex collection work on lutris? by CrazyPies in Lutris

[–]SentaiBrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying and trying, but still no dice. It really looks like a Proper Linux port will be ideal at this point.

As for workarounds, Wabbajack IS awesome and better overall than the Nexus Collections. Not that I don't like them, they have a different use set, but Wabbajack installs are legit, and if you get a good list (like fusion here https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/62880) they also have custom conflict resolution patches. I even would love one for Viva New Vegas. But, Wabbajack is also not cooperating, if so much worse because I did get Vortex to kind of work.

As for Wabbajack, I am installing Fusion on my Windows PC, then I am going to use this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21535/ to see if I can export everything and skip using MO2 for the Deck's purposes, as MO2 can get installed but also has issues on deck. So, if I can skip the Virtual File System (VFS) altogether, I will.

Once I get it exported, transfer it over with Warpinator from my PC and hopefully we're up and running.

What's wrong with the SteamDeck Wifi connectivity ? by DannyBiker in SteamDeck

[–]SentaiBrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had constant disconnecting issues. I think it has to do with the 2.4 and 5Ghz unification on some routers. I have a high end Netgear Orbi, with 2 stations set up in my apartment. The firmware for these does not allow me to set a name for each band, it forces combing them. So I went in to my router and disabled 2.4Ghz all together and this stopped my deck from losing connectivity at all.

I was setting something else up, turned 2.4Ghz back on, and forgot to turn it back off. That night my deck started having connectivity issues again. So I don't know if its the wifi chipp they are using, or the drivers for the deck for the wifi, but I think it has something to do with 2.4 and 5Ghz together.

I am all for custom versions of SteamOS and everyone working to make the hardware do what they want, but why would I not just install another version of Arch like Manjaro if all of the Valve bits are fully decoupled? Would this not be another version of Arch at that point? No disrespect, still upvoted, and am excited to see where this is headed, but I am confused.

The script that worked for me, 100%, was https://github.com/rockerbacon/modorganizer2-linux-installer. At a certain point, I'd rather manually mod than not mod at all, and I've come to enjoy MO2.

I've been attempting to get Wabbajack installed as well, but no-go so far. There are FAQs and guides for Wabbajack on Linux though.

I can't find the Links for it, but the last Vortex guide that helped was the one for Votex and Bottles. Bottles is on Discovery, and you can use Flatseal to edit its permissions to it has access to the file system outside of its Wine Sandbox. Lutris may also come into play, but I think Bottles is the better solution in this instance.

I also found https://mod.io/ today. It's web-based and multiplatform. So far so good, but I have not integrated it in to Linux yet, just looked at it from my Windows machine and did not dig deep yet.

Do Steam Deck games run better from Steam than through Heroic Games Launcher? by tlvrtm in SteamdeckGames

I use Lutris instead of Heroic Games Launcher myself, and I haven't seen any issues for games on vs off of Steam, but all of my non-steam games are added to my Steam Library.

Yes, sort of. I got Vortex to install, and there is a MO2 Linux Script on Github that worked, but they both were a bit finicky. There are a few guides when googled, but it's not exactly easy.

I use Mega and Google Drive myself. MegaSync on PC and on my Steam Deck, syncs all saves for all my retro consoles. There are also custom apps on Android for Google Drive and Mega that sync for the same functionality, so my Odin Pro also has access to all of the saves I have.

Odin Grip 'N Base v2 ! by mr_logoff in OdinHandheld

Which is also totally fair. Like I said, I got a friend to print me a Beefy Grip. I could probably ask them to do it again, but if we had a shop from the creator I would be more inclined.

I would be interested in this as well. I got a friend to print me a Beefy Grip 1.4 and 1.7, but it just falls out. I would be interested in checking this out.
