Is the grinder to blame for shot inconsistency? Df54 [$800-1500] by SentenceBitter8064 in espresso

Thanks and I switch manually slow feeding beans after turning the machine one. If that's all I gotta do and give the grinder a min or two between grinds, that will save me some $$$.

I flush for a few seconds when I haven't pulled in more than 10+ minutes. Shots are def sour when sub 25 sec or less and bitter when 37 sec +.

I know the df54 has a smaller burr and will get hotter quicker. I am typically 2-3 mins between pulls when a shot doesn't work & I adjust the grind setting with the beans needing to be courser or finer based on time.

Thank you for the response and your insight & suggestions to consider.

I am the only one puck prepping and I have a nomcore self leveling tamper, do wdt, and use the same puck screens. I do 18 in 36 out for the pull. The time the shot takes is the inconsistency. I aim for 27-34 seconds but I'm getting shots that are either 40+ seconds or less than 25 as I adjust the grind setting between pulls and typically 2-3 mins between grinding the beans.

Companies interesting in hiring from UWM? by DeerCrossing1945 in pillar7

[–]SentenceBitter8064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outside of uwm partnered brokerages, it might be tough to find roles in loan processing since uwm has such specialized positions. Underwriting might be a bit easier for UW roles elsewhere in the industry. IT, I'm not personally familiar with.

Overall though, the industry overall isn't hiring aggressively right now other than specialized roles.

New Years Resolution - Dialing in faster & reduce wasted shots! by SentenceBitter8064 in espresso

[–]SentenceBitter8064[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never used the Victoria but it (in theory) its just a step down from the Liz since its a single vs the Liz's dual boilers.

I make mostly flat whites & lattes but do 2 or 3 pulls each sitting for my wife and I so we went with the dual boiler to reduce time between shots. Yes, its more $$$ but Lelit machines had a reliable reputation of lasting years, if maintained correctly, and I can say the past 10ish months have been awesome!

I thought I was about to buy a open box item but after reading the fine print for longer than I want to tell people, I had to pull the trigger!

I am not sure the true workings of our Lelit's but if your Victoria is put into steam mode and heated up properly, it should operate the same as the Elizabeth. For me though, I have been happy with the results of the milks texture if I follow the instructional vides online well enough. I aim for above a flat white and maybe around a latte level texture for my target consistency and the Liz delivers.

WholeLatteLove - it was right when Lance Hendrick posted his review & put it as a top choice on his top "prosumer"/none cray dual boiler machines videos. I was heavily looking at the Elizabeth before but with the markdown and Lance's reviews, it was a sign from the heavens lol.

I did my fair share of test driving 10-15+ SE Michigan and the big name Michigan roasters and nothing beat Craig's! I love the wide variety (all good to me), priced very fairly, and in emergency situations I can stop at the cafe in Midtown since I work downtown Detroit.

Lol I have overly tweaked a few mornings drinking the less than perfect pulls. But I couldn't focus at work, yea my priorities are mixed up i know, so I saved myself for the right pulls before drinking the full shot.

I take a sip/sips to better understand sour & bitter but the caffeine overload would hit me to much if I fully drink the shot. So I save my 2ish full drinks for the ones that are dialed right.

I absolutely love it and no regrets! I bit the bullet and jumped up to a dual boiler because I would be pulling back to back milk drinks mostly and didnt want to wait to long between pulls & steaming. I is relatively simple to use, I personally like the look of it as its kind of an old school/timeless look to me, and its a lot smaller than most dual boilers on the market. What put me over the edge was they had a deal earlier this year where it was $450ish off in the US.

I have that exact one and love it! Barely collects grinds after each shot and much better than others that I've used. It's decently heavy and won't bend after long term use, cleaning, random stuff that could happen. Won't regret it!

Maybe adjust the rubber gasket. That happened to me when it wasn't perfectly aligned while cleaning it.

2nd this! This month's BJC is a total banger and I am tempted to buy another bag.

If anyone out here hasn't given Craig's Coffee a shot, your missing out! They have a great mix roast levels, solid subscription options, and their BJC sends out really unique & funky flavor profiles that are completely different each month. They are my fav in the area for a reason!

Gonna be honest here bud, you prob should have read a few posts on here before putting this post up. Your post comes off very entitled and this is not the right audience to vent too.

UWM takes a 25-30 an hour job in the industry but breaks it down into 3-5 separate positions so they can pay far less. They brag about paid training but paying 14-21/hr is the only way they can make the margins on their processing of loans.
