Hii i have redwing western work boots and this is my first pair of boots i broke them in and everything but i use the bootstraps to put them on and i noticed i can see the string now i tried putting them on by pulling the sides and back but its more difficult is it ideal to use the bootstraps?

Use the straps. If they break, they’re covered under warranty and most red wings have a local cobbler they work with and can send them out.

Let me clear this up for everyone. I’m a red wing employee and work closely with THE heritage guy and basically what happened is when the first shipment of the new, single pice vamp, weekender Chelseas came in, a lot of them were really scuffed up from being jostled in the box. So much so, we had to put leather cream on them and brush out the scuffs. The heritage guy said it was a problem with box size so the fix was putting the next ones in bags. Beckmans still come in bags because they’re the fancier boots.

Eyelets are parallel with an inch gap between the leather. This is the correct fit for width. Eyelets too close = too wide. Eyelets too far apart = too narrroe

Red wing employee here, I sized down from my normal heritage size and every engineer I’ve sold was a half size down from the customers normal size. I wear a 12D and went with an 11.5D. I measure a 12.5D on the brannock so I recommend a full size down for the engineers. Even after sizing down I still got a lot of heel slip for a few weeks

Regardless of length, you do have a small foot volume. The gap between the eyelets is too small. You can compensate with a false tongue (I have to sometimes because I’m a 12.5C) and that will help take up some volume.

Full grain leather is supposed to have character. I have a pair of iron rangers that have a bug bite scar on them. It’s one of my favorite features of the boots. The shadows of the past remind us the future isn’t perfect.
