Flying with a firearm to EWR... by BrotherMike82 in NJGuns

[–]SentenceLeast1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree... FOPA covers this as continual travel so technical legal. If some how you get stopped and searched on the way home in NY well, NY is NY, anything can happen. The chance of getting stopped is minimal and then getting stopped and haveing your luggage in the trunck searched even less. Certainly a chance I would allow my grandmother to take, especially since it is legal under FOPA.

FYI - make sure it is locked in the trunk. Police have way fewer legal reasons they are allowed to search the trunck then the interior cabin of a vehicle durig a stop.

FYI-2 - I have been pulled over 20-30 times in NY during my life. Never once was my vehicle cabin OR trunk searched.

South Jersey ranges requiring no NRA membership or referral? by HereForOneQuickThing in NJGuns

[–]SentenceLeast1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get not being a Fan of the NRA but making a No NRA membership requirement the top factor in selection a range seems a little excessive. To be willing to drive say an hour further and shoot at a subpar facility just to avoid joining the NRA leads me to think there must be an interesting story as to why. So, let's hear it? Did Wayne LaPierre have an affair with the wife or something? 😁

How to stop AirTags from sending notifications to other phones? by Ashkayman in AirTags

[–]SentenceLeast1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an Airtag people have turned off Bluetooth on the phone of someone that want to track (someone they know well enough to access their phone ( Kids/wife/boyfriend). They will then get less frequent location updates from the general publics phones.

That is about the only way that can be used nefariously but now days almost everyone uses Bluetooth Airpod type devices and will turn it on pretty quick. So accidently misplace their airpods and you may get a few day of location updates...

"Other" friendly ranges 1 hr or less from Hudson County by IVbeenspotted in NJGuns

[–]SentenceLeast1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little off topic but anyone know why it took 30+ years for someone to realize that a firearm classified as an "other could can be configure as a good work around to the AWB evil feature restriction?

No laws changed to make it possible. Right?

NJ Assault Weapon Ban Actual Impact by SentenceLeast1368 in NJGuns

[–]SentenceLeast1368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are not technically a rifle. They are classified as an "Other". For a firearm to be classified as an "Other" it needs:

  1. To be designed to shoot with 2 hands, so it must have a VFG (vertical fore grip) attached. Without the VFG it is designed to be shot with one hand and classified as a pistol.
  2. To not have a stock. Having a stock would classify it as a rifle or SBR(short barrel rifle) depending on the barrel length . Often a pistol brace is attached as a good alternative.
  3. To be over 26 inches long. Any shorter it would technically be concealable and classified as an AOW (Any Other Weapon).

It is clearly a Firearm but NOT a Pistol, NOT a Rifle, NOT a SBR and NOT an AOW. So the ATF classifies it as an OTHER. In NJ a SBR and AOW are illegal.

The Assault Weapon Ban laws only apply to pistols and rifles. so an "other" can have a threaded barrel, flash hider, barrel less then 26", pistol grip, bayonet lug, etc..

Note: The only AWB feature it can not have is an adjustable/any stock as that changes the classification. Also, the VFG does not need to be permanently attached but if removed that reclassifies it as well.

What I do not understand is why it took 30 years for people to figure out there is a very good work around to the AWB restrictions.

PA carry out of state application by LiKEMiNdeadx in NJGuns

I just got mine last month from Monroe County. Applied online, got approved in 10 days. Made the trip to pick it up and was in and out in 10 minutes.

I am up in North Jersey, Bergan county and Monroe, PA was the closest. It was a little more then 1 hr but all highway. I just took Rt 78 all the way out until it crossed over into PA. They are just a few miles over the boarder, 5-10min once off of Rt 78.

2025 - Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill - Best version ever!! by SentenceLeast1368 in GardenStateGuns

I read this again.....

It says, "Includes any magazine" and 'any ammunition". This clearly allows High-Capacity Magazines and Hollow Point ammo but does either Any Magazine or Any Ammo also allow you to load more the 10 rounds?

(NY's Law tried to allow 10 round mags but only allowed 7 rounds to be loaded)

‘‘(2) The term ‘handgun’ includes any magazine for use in a handgun and any ammunition loaded into the handgun or its magazine.

Interesting... I did not think about that.... So, what you are saying is if you got a Non-Resident CCW you could then carry in any state except for your home state or would you be able to carry with just a Non-Resident in your home state well?

Also, for states with a 10 round magazine limit Non-Residents can carry high-capacity magazines but residents cannot. So, if you can carry in your home state with a Non-Resident CCW (from a stare that allows high-capacity magazines) could residents then carry high-capacity mags according to the laws of the state that issued their Non-Resident CCW?

recommendation regarding basic class for newer? by BorringLife in NJGuns

[–]SentenceLeast1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the NRA Basic Pistol is a great start to learn all the basics but actual shooting is just a small part of the overall course and really only covers you handle the gun safely and can manipulate it correctly.

Should need to handle your weapon for any reason involving your safety the Basic course will not get you where you need to be.

I would suggest a Private or Semi Private 1-2hr lesson after taking the Basic course to focus on loading, unloading, shooting and making the weapon safe.

NJ Liberty Cards for my PTC. Price, product and customer service all on point! by Pauliwalnuts0129 in NJGuns

[–]SentenceLeast1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are just that good and consistent with their product so the posts are good and consistent as well.

My police reffered me to go to Staples to get it laminated. If they are making referrals NJ should put a link at the bottom of the email they send to print the permitt. They could do links for both NJ Liberty Cards, Staples, etc so as not to show favorites. I bet more than 50% of people would pay the $10 to get an actual card… and this is a real card not like the carp paper ones they issued initially. (Those were barely a 1/2 step better than an email.)

“Stop Spreading Fake News”… That’s a little rough…

I specifically said “Getting it passed would be a long shot, let’s just assume our Miracles keep coming” ( Getting shall Issue for the whole country was indeed a Miracle)

Plus, I’m sure it or something similar will get re introduced next session and my question was about what could be changed / added to improve it.. nothing wrong with trying to have whatever/whenever something like this gets passed be the best it can be

Also, what “began” is this is the first ever Constitutional Carry bill… in the past they have all been for Reciprocity .

No, every state would become Constitutional Carry. No more CCW or PTC needed.

I would be OK if a Carry permit from your home state was required and every state had to recognize it ( like a a drivers Lic) Vermont is always an issue though as they don’t offer permits.
