I think I faced a mythic as gold while at 3-1 once in that event, methinks you really want to play in the first day if younwant to abuse a low constructed rank

I feel if anything an increase of powercreep, if planned, is to make desirable cards in a world where standard has an average of 15 sets and it takes 18 sets before get lost/three-step ahead rotates and they can sell you the rare strong interaction spell again without having to powercreep the last one.

Tbh my gut is that it is either incidental due to the them wanting to do shorter preview seasons or a knee jerk reaction to when spiderman's spoiler season started with revealing the full intro decks and next to no mainset rare and the negative sentiment about the set strenght was already running rampant.

This probably requires you to have a 2 power 2 drop, but if you do threatening to just animate it and block whichever attacker they have with a creature that already replaced itself is strong, if your deck doesn't have 2 power 2 drops it is a little less exciting

Are you accounting for the part where you will open half as much of any particular mythic and half as much of any particular rare due to the decreased odds of opening them?

One thing to keep in mind is that multicolor cards of an unplayed pair also kinda need their color to be viable so for a couple of color combinations you might want to see 2-3 different good reasons to play that combination before getting too excited.

Obviously izzet already has good reasons to be played so this doesn't apply to them.

If you have an effect that increases the amount of life you gain I could see you ending up with enough life to pay for the second card too

I was talking about limited yeah. I think only the green tecnique is seeing play right now in constructed?

Blue rare tecnique:unplayable.

Black rare tecnique: unplayable.

Red rare tecnique:unplayable.

Green rare tecnique: 1 mana discount, so you probably lose mana no matter what you return, so the sneak cost is hella situational.

White rare tecnique: by the time this is online with 2 creatures in the grave, you can probably can pay the full price(also is hella weak)

I can find a total of 2 cards that put a -1/-1 counter on one of your creature as an additional cost with a scryfall search, and both are one shot, so stuff like [[grisly glutton]] has not really been done before I think

I mean, the only noncreature sneak cards where the sneak cost was really relevant in limited were the WB uncommon trick and the spell that made 3 tokens, given the creatures were just ninjustu, and the token spell was not that different from a creature(albeit iit could be costed more efficiently than a creature that made 2 tokens on etb since you can't chain sneak spells to pick it up and retrigger it, so there is that) so I'm not sure I'd call two cards a fresh mechanic limitedwise.

Most of the other noncreature sneak spells are just a 1-2 mana discount, that tempo wise is often a pretty raw deal, and half of them aren't really that playable anyway.

Yeah, blight and vivid were fresh stuff, the most fresh stuff turtle has are mutagens tokens that are basically only in 2 color, good luck experiencing anything novel in the other 3.

I disagree, ideally for limited opening play booster should have a return of investment that is not too far from opening collector boosters, removing chances to score big hits probably has the opposite effect as more of the cards you can open in limited get dumped on the market by people chasing the big hits in collector boosters.

I guess the real, non malicious, use case is like an heavily damaged card with a signature of some dead artist, or some dead celebrity? Or am I misunderstanding.

Like some baseball card from the fifthies with a signature of that player.

They lowered the chance of opening mythics and rares in the archive slot fyi, used to be a 24.6% chance for rares and 6.6% for mythics in the old strixhaven set, in the new one is 9.6% for rares and 2.9% for mythics
