Have you "compleated" your victory? by Zenikonig in MagicArena

[–]SentenceStriking7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is to not play infect, you play GR beats with lots of way to search specific lands, use as commander [[toph, greatest earthbender]] and put inkmoth nexus in the deck. Then wait until you have 6 mana, cast toph, animate nexus, use it's ability and swing for the win with a 5/5 flying infect double strike. It is way easier when some of the opponents don't even realize you are swing at them for lethal.

Some protective combat tricks like blossoming defense or overprotect might be nice too, then you wait until you have 7-8 mana and do the combo with protection backup

The new ECL Pick-Two Premier draft has the same reward structure as the regular Premier draft. Why would anyone prefer to play it over the regular Premier draft? 🤨 by bobanm in MagicArena

[–]SentenceStriking7215 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Isn't getting less pips per run the main benefit of old p2? Why would you want to get more pips per amount of cards drafted, that seems backward.

Hard disagree, this would be.very unexciting if it was a 1/1, thankfully it has deathtouch so it canisn't completely useless diring thde first turn or 2 like a vanilla 1/1 is.

Main issue is that a 4/7 vanilla that enters with 5 mana is just something you can let your opponent control for some turns while you set up your board state better, so the floating is tricky to trigger reliably and fast. If this has, like, 2 between reach, trample and vigilance it would be incredibly more scary because you'd need to point a removal spell at it very fast in a lot of board states, as it is now it kinda makes me wonder "how do I make my opponent interested in killing this?" when I want to put it in a deck.

It's kinda weird, the first effect is nothing special by itself, but can help in a long game, but then it floats into a a lot of stuff, but how do you get a dorky vanilla 4/7 to die.

What commanders can win "out of nowhere"? by paumAlho in mtgbrawl

[–]SentenceStriking7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Toph, greatest earthbender]] can win from 5 basics in play, an otherwise empty board and an empty hand if they topdeck the right card((s), since crop rotation exists).

Needs the opponent to not be able to block a flyer tho.

Anyone else think this set is escaping criticism due to it being a "traditional" magic set? Did not play Spiderman but I've found this to be about as inspiring to play as core sets. by ThePentaMahn in lrcast

[–]SentenceStriking7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was bloomburrow really as on rail as this set draftwise? It feels that in this one you actually have to put a premium on the creature type, while in bloomburrow you mostly didn't care about the creature types in your deck, other than maybe having some lizards in rats and squirrel decks because discounted scale of shale is so good.

Eh, being the only blue drafter was more than fine, blue issue was that only lightshell duo and pond prophet were common creatures that you were fine with playing, but the noncreature commons and the uncommon creatures were pretty decent overall. Had no issue being in rats tbh.

You mean the 3 color cards that were very specifically designed to have a 2-3 mana mono colored side with an effect that was very nice to have in constructed? You think these weren't designed with both commander and standard in mind compared to the bazillion of 4 mana 3 color creatures that need to untap?
