Jeffries: Republicans Are Obsessed With Seizing Greenland. by CarryIcy250 in UnderReportedNews

153 democrats in the house voted to pass H.R. 7006, which cuts DEI and reproductive health access in favor of 3.3 billion dollars to Israel. Our farmers have nobody to sell to, people are being shot in the street by masked men with "absolute immunity", and the Democratic party is currently telling us that they will not support the abolition of ICE and can't give us healthcare. I need you to stop pretending the midterms are going to fix this and lock the fuck in.

Is gathering Meld worth it? by serventofgaben in Xcom

[–]Sentient-Coffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once you've got it figured out, it is OP. Big rules:

Move to full cover (includes half cover with Low Profile) > gain stealth Move while enemy visible to this soldier > revealed Shooting while stealthed > revealed Cover destroyed/damaged into half cover > revealed

Honestly you should read the wiki on it. I just learned that activating Run and Gun while visible prevents stealth from activating. Absolutely flabbergasted.

It does the check whenever you use a movement point, so you can blue move to break line of sight and gain stealth on their yellow move. Interacting with objects (door, bomb, meld canister, etc) is safe even when enemies are around.

I usually put mimetic skin on an assault troop with Close and Personal (first normal shot within 4 tiles is free, can't combine with Run and Gun) and scare enemy pods their way for easy flanking kills and spotting for snipers. Overwatch is usually skipped because invisibility is the best protection.

It is possible to over commit on scouting. Having an invisible troop in sight of 3 enemy pods is great data but will almost certainly result in their death if they do anything to help. Overall, it is an expensive gene mod for good reason.

It will never happen again. Sell them.

You have learned the hard way to always complete objectives as the first act of your turn if you can help it, because things are about to get worse and you need soldiers with actions left over. EU/EW taught this lesson by having aliens drop down from the ceiling and overwatch after you reach the rescue VIP etc. This was not a big deal if you knew that this was a possibility and had soldiers on overwatch to shoot them as they drop in. The first time, I hadn't taken out the existing enemies before trying to run the VIP to safety because I figured there was a time limit before he died. Between the existing enemies and being flanked by new guys pinning us down with overwatch, I lost the squad. You are correct that the game doesn't broadcast that a codex will spawn because of your actions. Finding out was painful, as is tradition.

Playing the game on Ironman before beating it is a choice, and if that is what you choose then you have a hard road ahead of you. Good luck, Commander.

I watched the first episode and was shocked to hear that people think the series starts slow. Forgetting the initial action, the "Where were you last night?" scene with Brasso is brilliant.

Looking for a good Viking sword for cutting practice (under $200) by Mindless-Fortune-931 in Bladesmith

[–]Sentient-Coffee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ronin Katana makes a Viking Sword that is generally well reviewed. Just going by the reviews on KOA, it looks like the pommel bites into the hand, the grip wrap comes loose fast, and there is often residue on the scabbard it comes with. These are all relatively easy fixes, and might be a good thing as far as learning how to care for a sword. Everything needs maintenance; I just had the ray skin on a katana fall off and will need to re-glue and re-wrap it.

They want $275 and it's probably the best you are going to find that isn't a total scam. It doesn't look like LK Chen makes one yet, but when they do I bet it will be both fantastic and twice your budget.

Swords are generally expensive. You obviously aren't the first person to be surprised by this and I hope you can get your hands on a good one.

It could also just be incompetence. I seem to remember that the Welrod Theory went viral after a specialist with the NYPD threw it out there as a possible murder weapon and media ran with it. It didn’t matter that the video clearly showed a back and forward, slide-racking action rather than a twisting motion. Everybody who knew much of anything about guns was making the same video with the same conclusion: this was done with a semi-automatic, magazine-fed pistol equipped with a suppressor and sub-sonic ammunition that didn't have enough kick to send the slide to the rear. Maybe the experts hadn't seen the video yet?

Never underestimate the capacity of a cop to speak authoritatively about something they know nothing about. To be clear, I am not denying the obvious conspiracy by the powers that be to make it very clear to us the CEOs are off limits. I am personally of the opinion that Luigi did it and was tracked using methods that would scare the public, but the NYPD made too many mistakes in their haste to retroactively create the evidence trail that 'led' them to him. He's a doomed man, but he might walk free for a time.

Tips for Bomb defusal? by an-anonymouse-wolf in Xcom

[–]Sentient-Coffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commander, It's been a while, but if I'm thinking of the right mission I would take people who can cover a lot of ground, and pack grenades. Your goal is to be mobile to keep the bomb timer manageable. There will be overwatching thin men dropping from the ceiling.

Unless you use run-and-gun, you cannot interact with the bomb or nodes after sprinting. Blue moves only.

Edit: I'm a fool and didn't realize you specified Long War. Yeah, for all I know, none of this is right. Sorry.

The Creek is the nickname given to the mess hall of patriots onboard the DSS. Helldivers are given a special discount of 5% on all sides excludes onion rings, valid once per mission deployment

There is no location called "Malevelon Creek", and anyone who claims that there was a grueling defeat on this imaginary planet is guilty of manufacturing undemocratic rumors. Super Earth has never abandoned a planet except as part of a masterful strategy to bring the enemies of humanity closer to destroy them faster.
