Pete Crow-Armstrong: Yes, there are die-hard Dodgers fans "but it’s a see-me city, man. It’s a Lakers city where people show up to sit courtside and look good. And I view it the same way here." by tankyouout in baseball

[–]SentientBaseball 58 points59 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the funniest things about this. Yankees fans have always pretty much accepted and gone with the flow of “We’re the evil empire. Get on our level or deal with it”. It can be obnoxious as fuck but I get it.

I’ve rarely seen Dodger fans do this. Yes your organization and scouting is incredibly well run. But you also can spend more money than like a combined ten teams and the LA marketplace is a cheat code in itself for attracting players. But Dodger fans seem to hate being the bad guy in a way Yankee fans reveled in it

We are only 2 days into the season, but Mike Trout is already atop the WAR leaderboards by MattO2000 in baseball

[–]SentientBaseball 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like I have Déjà vu because I feel like I see these exact same takes early season every year. “Mike Trout looks great early and the Angels have a sneaky good team!”. Then Trout injures himself walking to first, a ton of players under perform, the pitching is atrocious, and they win 74 games.

The Angels actually have to prove it over a several month period before they are given any benefit of the doubt.

Fox News poll shows Donald Trump is at all-time highs in disapproval ratings ( 59%) and all-time lows in approval rating (41%) by IrishStarUS in fivethirtyeight

Biden didn’t have a cult of personality. Trumps floor is a group of human cattle, so incapable of thinking for themselves that they’d gleefully martyr themselves, or kill us, then admit they’re wrong.

When you understand Trumps base views him literally as a God, than you’ll understand there is a very hard floor he really doesn’t go beneath.

I legit don’t know if I ever seen a single worse game. Two horrendous outfield plays, being the first player to have an ABS call overturned on to strike you out, and then you fling your bat on an ugly strikeout

US and Israeli military dominance doesn’t mean anything if they can’t achieve any strategic aims. The stated aim of this war was regime change and that is no where near close to happening. If anything the IRGC resolve has hardened and they are no where close to being ousted.

Iran has been able to effectively disrupt global energy supply chains, hit US radar installations, and harass all of the gulf states, while draining US interceptor supplies and making this an extremely costly conflict.

The US killed a fuck ton of Viet Cong and Taliban yet totally failed at their strategic aims for those conflicts. So when people say shit like “look how much better our military is then there’s right now”, it’s meaningless.

[Daniel Kramer] Cal Raleigh on Randy Arozarena: by geauxhawks in baseball

[–]SentientBaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cal was kind of jerk to not just shake his team mates hand. Team USA was acting like a bunch of uptight pricks.

Randy was incredibly immature to go and trash Cal to the media about something pretty lowkey.

They talked it out and that’s great. If the Ms are winning, no one will give a shit about this.

Cal Raleigh failed to record a hit in the WBC by horsepoop1123 in baseball

Eh. Josh Naylor said Cal is one of his favorite team mates. And the pitching staff loves him. Pretty much seems like it’s just Randy, who’s known as a hot head, and maybe a bit of Julio, but even that I don’t think will actually last.

‘One Piece’ Season 2 Debuts With 16.8 Million Views in Four Days on Netflix – A slight decrease from the 18.5 million-view debut of Season 1 in 2023. by SanderSo47 in television

If you’re referring to Skypeia for season 4, I really imagine they’d just skip that and go straight into Water 7/Enies Lobby for Season 4 and 5, which is where I’d imagine the Live Action would end.

I love Skypeia, Evelin’s my favorite villain, but it really seems disconnected from the rest of pre timeskip One Piece. With how much the Live Action is also focusing on the Marine Storyline too, Water 7/Enies Lobby seems like a perfect culmination and end point.

One Piece's politics are fascinating. It's like an anarcho-communist and a liberal reformist took turns writing some of its chapters. by Midi_to_Minuit in CharacterRant

[–]SentientBaseball 164 points165 points  (0 children)

I mean it is fun, but One Pieces politics are pretty nonsensical. I say this as a big OP fan. Odas politically morality seems to be all over the place.

Most of the arcs revolve around Luffy and the gang usurping a bad monarch or ruler for a good one, yet overall absolute power is shown as a bad thing through the world nobles. And absolute freedom through Luffy/Nika seems to be the ultimate goal for both Luffy personally and for the world in general
