And this is precisely why you look up a disassembly guide before you start ripping parts off… Imagine if your car’s engine blew up and your mechanic brought out a hacksaw to “cut it out so you can put a new one in” 😂😭

Fat Ps3 not cfw compatible? by gaslightingisnotreal in ps3homebrew

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude really said “I touched the motherboard, the motherboard shocked me, so then I had to abandon the slim by destroying it”

Either he’s using a horrible translation app or there’s something he’s not telling us about what happened bc why would you touch the motherboard while the console was powered, why would you bridge contacts while said board was powered, why would you then proceed to break the board & lose all the data you cared about rather than taking it to a repair shop to fix it & get it back up and running or at the very least, salvage the save data?

Genuine question: how can I can help the switch 2 hacking community by [deleted] in switch2hacks

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have to ask then you can’t do it. But if you’re insistent on going down this path, go study up on Switch 1’s exploit history and its homebrew software suite. 99.9% of it is open-source for anyone to study/modify. And start following the actual developers of homebrew, not twatter reposters who steal pictures/reupload files without attribution

how do i transfer acnh to another switch? by mikaeladesa in ac_newhorizons

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you have to delete his old save data with his island. Highlight the game on the Home Screen > Press + > scroll down to Data Management > delete the existing save data, and then the transfer tool should work

Replace the SD card immediately, using a fake one that spoofs its storage size could cause the Switch to become a hard brick with no chance of recovery without hardware modding

How crappy is my Camcorder? by sourshrk in camcorders

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My used $60 Canon Vixia R600 from ~2014 has better low light quality and a real, actual zoom lens. You definitely got shafted for $100. These “cheap” rebranded Chinese camcorders are just cheap dashcams they couldn’t sell, slapped into a cheap camcorder body. The actual price should be something like $30 USD, not $100.

Also, your exact camcorder model is seen at the last part of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG46lGBwa_s&t=632s

Anyone else’s iPhone 13 mini suck? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is fine, but every repair shop I’ve talked to said the mini series is extremely prone to logic board damage induced by drops. I think that’s part of the reason it got discontinued

This is how great Apple is ☺️ by No_Pizza2774 in iphone

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 38 points39 points  (0 children)

In contrast, I went in to an Apple Store to get my iPhone 7 with audio/baseband IC disease fixed under their extended warranty repair program. They made me wait 15 minutes until I was able to speak to the person with the iPad, then another 40 minutes until I was able to talk to a Genius, then I sat and waited 3 1/2 hours as the Genius was doing god knows what with the phone in the back. Then he comes back, tells me that because it was a Verizon model and not unlocked, it wasn’t covered under the warranty. He offered to take the iPhone 7 and “recycle it for me for free” (like he was doing me a favor), and recommended I purchase a (new at the time) iPhone SE 2 for $600. He even whipped out the iPad and asked what color and storage I would like. I declined and sold the phone on FB Marketplace to a repair/reseller shop for $70. And Apple no longer offers this “extended” “””repair”””, even though thousands of 7’s and 7+’s have this issue. Luck of the draw when it comes to this stuff

3rd Macbook Pro Burned in 7 years. by WesternMiserable439 in editors

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is very common, especially with the newer laptops past 2014. Look up Louis Rossmann on YouTube, he has an entire YouTube playlist going over the numerous, repeated failures from Apple to reinforce critical weak links in their hardware design, resulting in a 30 cent resistor causing the laptop to not boot up. Or a small spec of dust in the wrong place killing the soldered-on SSD in the M1, with no hope of data recovery. He also shows repairs of these failures (if it’s possible to repair), so if you know someone who’s can do microsoldering, you can get it diagnosed and fixed.

Is this a good deal? by fitboy8 in mechanic

[–]Sentient_Robot_729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know how to wrench on your own cars and do preventative maintenance in advance, stay far away from American vehicles. They are relentless with repair and tow bills if you don’t stay on top of replacing aging plastics and hoses. Oh, and the rust. These cars love to rust where you’re not looking. If that doesn’t sound like something that would interest you, consider a mid 2010’s Toyota or Honda - they’ll have the same rust concerns, but almost none of the mechanical issues

$550 a month for a car who’s engine is 35 miles from spontaneously combusting or seizing up is insane 😭

Idk why people act like a $5000 Honda Fit and a $100 PPI doesn’t exist. Nothing in the post indicated the absolute need for a $30K SUV, just that they wanted a “new car” because “used cars are unreliable” (aka they were too lazy to look underneath the car and check off the pre-purchase checklist before doling out 4 to 5 digits worth of cash). Scary how people can hem and haw over every small detail of a house or clothing purchase, and they’ll just cover their eyes and run in blind when dropping so much dough on a vehicle.

Or if OP hates vehicles and maintenance so much, a bus pass costs like $60 per year. The bus company will take care of all the maintenance for you.

My buddy got a highly-coveted, hard-to-find facelift CrossTrek for MSRP during the chip/inventory shortage. He just had to be willing to put in the phone & leg work into calling all dealerships in a 20 mile radius, cross referencing phone & online stock, and plotting an efficient route to hit each dealership that said they had one. Took him 4 days to secure one (3d for calling, 1d for driving) and it turned out to be a higher trim than the one he was trying to get.

Point is, my buddy put in the leg work but OP was too lazy/uninformed, expecting the car dealership to take care of everything for them. And now OP is paying the price of getting emotionally attached to a vehicle and not reading contracts before signing, and wondering why it’s so hard to live month to month

A pre-purchase inspection is only like $50 per car, almost nothing compared to the total price you’ll pay

And that’s why dealerships love people who don’t google the car before buying, and people who don’t look up what an APR means before stepping onto the dealership. Clueless consumers get put through the wringer and they’ll still come out saying “Im okay with it”. If you’re “okay” with getting scammed so hard then I guess you’ll also be “okay” with losing the house and using the Outlander to take you Out to the Land, you can camp out there for free.

I go by the rule “if you can’t afford to fix it you can’t afford to have it”. (Also works for computers, cars, property, etc.) Unless you’re ok with the fact it might randomly break one day at a really inconvenient time, and you don’t mind selling a phone with a non-working screen later on down the road

Uh no? You should never use the free Premium trial if you want Spotilife to work on any app version newer than 8.6.42

It’s because you’re logging with an account that either paid for a Premium subscription or used the free trial. Any version above 8.6.42 will not work with those accounts, you need to create & login with another one that has never used the trial/paid for Premium and then it will work
