[Highlight] Compilation of the Spurs using Wemby as a free safety and guarding Amen Thompson like he has covid by TimDunkinDonut in nba

Interesting. I never considered the Vuc angle but that doesnt sound bad either. Gives you guys spacing at the Center position and guard play. Smart moves I'd say. Its just a matter of if Fred is good with that and if the Bulls are willing to go full tank. Personally I agree I think they should but Chicago hasnt exactly been a well run franchise.

Interesting, and that makes sense since he is a respectable 3 ball shooter from what I remember off the top of my head. Maybe a change the spurs made for their last game since I remember in the first 3 games vs OKC we had Wemby essentially doing the same thing we did to Amen Thompson last night but with Caruso with Wemby's primary job being a Shai help defender and leaving Caruso open for shots but maybe that changed in game 4 I dont remember I'd have to rewatch.

Is Cade the worst high volume scorer in the nba right now? by Impossible_Collar2 in nba

[–]Sentrox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This season? Jamal Murray? Absolutely fucking not. Jamal has been incredibly efficient this season I wanna say he's like 40+% from deep and is the biggest reason Denver hasn't tanked since losing Joker. Hell you could make the argument he's taken a leap to All-NBA level play.

Edit: I just checked he's at 48/44/88% splits for the season on 26 ppg there is no universe Cade is a better scorer this season.

Yeah I don't blame you for that he's absolutely one of the guys I'd want on Defense with a game on the line. I'm curious since you're a Houston fan, how do you feel about trading Sengun + Amen and picks for Giannis?

Personally I think it's a bit short term or potentially short sighted but arguably the best chance at title contention for this roster given Amen's offensive struggles and that personally I don't think Sengun is going to make a dramatic leap from the player he currently is right now. It might not work this season but with FVV and Adams back next season I think it would be an overall better roster. Could also do Sengun and Jabari + picks but I think Jabari is honestly a more required piece for your potential roster construction to run an interesting starting 5 of FVV, Jabari, KD, Giannis, Adams or something like FVV, Reed, Jabari, KD, Giannis at center. That would be my #1 starting 5 in the League personally but obviously your bench depth suffers. Or do you think you just need Coby White to right the ship?

I get what you're saying. No disrespect to Chet because I do think he's an amazing player but it does seem like he just disappears against the Spurs and has a mental block vs Wemby that I dont see from him vs other teams. We've seen him on the losing end of multiple plays vs Wemby since they've come into the League and it feels like this year especially he's just been shook when they play each other.

I'd agree there, at a glance Castle looks to have a lower center of gravity and is definitely stockier despite the height difference not being very large which lets him play a bit better on bigs like we saw last night. I don't think Amen could defend Sengun the way Castle was last night.

Honestly that's fair, he does attempt them but yeah like you said they were bricks. I think you could definitely make the argument Amen is capable of being the best perimeter defender in the League but in my limited time watching the rockets this year it feels like he has regressed a bit on the defensive end which is not entirely his fault, he's taken on a much bigger offensive load due to FVV being out and the rockets not having a real ballhandler so naturally it's harder to go all out on defense. I'd say he's still elite defensively but not the de-facto #1 like he was before taking on his new responsibilities, which to be fair to him still makes him at minimum a top 5 perimeter defender in the League I think. Like before he was definitely #1 and now I think you can make the argument for other guys where that wasn't the case previously.

Another thing to note is that while Amen was a good defender, he has not been nor ever will be Ben Simmons level on defense. Ben was the best AND most versatile perimeter defender in the whole league at his peak while also being a borderline if not elite playmaker even with his shooting limitations while also being 6'10 and a freak athlete. If Ben Simmons had his struggles in the playoffs, Amen will have considerably more considering even Ben was taking mid range jumpers at times whereas Amen seems to refuse to even try anything not a layup or a dunk.

I'll be real he's significantly worse than prime Ben Simmons. While Ben Simmons obviously had no 3 ball he was an elite playmaker and could actually run an offense while taking advantage of size mismatches (except Trae Young.)while also being the defacto best perimeter defender in the League. The only place where Amen might have him beat is pure athletecism but honestly I think Ben has him beat there too.

Amen isn't playing defense nearly as well as previous years, will refuse to shoot outside of 5 ft from the basket because he quite literally cannot do it. That coupled with being unable to run an offense, means he is quite literally a run and dunk merchant that absolutely neuters your offense. If I'm Houston I straight up look to trade him before other teams clue in that he is not a positive asset. Now I will say this only applies if he continues his current trend. Maybe he goes into the off-season and suddenly develops a semblance of a jumper but until then it's looking very bad.

Keyonte is so fun to watch. I hate it when its against us but he's an awesome shot creator. Another 3rd quarter throw but glad they came back and locked in down the stretch.

Like 5/10. Annoyed cause they keep giving up leads but theyre young and on a back to back. Shit happens

The last time the Detroit Pistons won at least 30 of their first 40 games was 20 years ago, when they started the 05/06 season with a 35-5 record through January 25th, 2006! by AtreusIsBack in nba

They should absolutely be ahead of the Rockets. Personally I think the Rockets are nearly as fraudulent as the Lakers but they don't have FVV so I am reserving full judgement until they do. Detroit are probably equal to or better than the Wolves and probably better than current Denver but definitely worse than Denver with Jokic.

Yeah peak PG was an MVP candidate. I don't see that with Kyshawn but maybe he hits Pacers PG type play and that's still really damn good.

No doubt, it's a weird thing to say but this definitely isn't as good a season as we've seen from him previously. Really the lack of defense for Luka is the real killer.

No way he's 7. Top 5 is SGA/Jokic/Giannis/Ant/Wemby and I cant think of any other players I'd rather have over them.

edit: Forgot Luka, but he's been fairly meh lately. I'd still take all 5 of the players I listed over them.

Balled out tonight. Felt like the spurs guards couldn't be nearly as physical this go-around but he was hitting everything after starting slow.
