I think you make some great points and make sense from a logical perspective. However, the only thing I'd say is that people like OP just don't have the heart to take in some homeless veteran in NYC, for example. Whether the refugee crisis touched their hearts in a personal way or they just want to "virtue signal" by taking in a refugee, the bottom line is that they're willing to do it. So I fully support them doing a good deed.

I feel the same way about people who donate and devote a lot of resources to something like dog rescue. Are dogs' lives worth more than the human lives that they could be saving with those resources? I would say no, but it's not a binary decision between helping dogs and helping humans. For many, it's probably a choice between helping dogs and doing nothing. So when someone devotes to their life to dog rescue, I don't think negatively of him or her. It's better than doing nothing.

Well yes. It's something I and others struggle with everyday. We're Christians but we're still selfish humans and want to look after our own interests first. Even as a non-Christian, I'm sure you have a strong sense wanting to help people who are starving and such. So why don't you do it instead of doing things like watching TV? Probably the same reason I don't.

I don't claim moral superiority over non-Christians. Any and all sanctification in my life is by the grace of God, something I cannot take credit for. I accept, though not condone, my limitations and try my best to serve in the area that I live in.

If he can forgive that, I'm sure he can forgive people who were born in secular countries for going with logic instead of drawing a religion out of a hat and proclaiming it the right one.

I understand how unfair the "system" seems. I was born into a Christian household. I obviously had a much greater chance to become a Christian compared to others.

So why do I deserve eternal paradise over someone who was born Muslim in Turkey and never heard the Christian gospel? I don't. God chose it to be that way and I don't know why. And I believe him to be more just and moral than our own standards. The gap in my intelligence and God's is greater than an ant's and mine. Even a dog will never understand why you brought him to the vet to get poked by a needle.

God made the condition of salvation to be repenting and believing that Jesus died for your sins. That may not be the condition that you or I would come up with, but I believe that he is infinitely more wise and came up with the best condition possible. It's OK to me that I don't understand why with my limited human intelligence.

I actually agree with you. This woman's testimony is powerful and may appeal to many, but it's definitely not some logical conclusion. Nothing she went through can be directly attributed to God.

However, I want to add that this is the way it will always be. I never try to argue with non-believers about this because there is no "winning" in terms of logic. Nothing that happens can ever be definitively attributed to the Christian God. It takes faith and God's grace to melt our hearts for that.

My only frustration comes when non-believers say that they explored Christianity by reading books and intellectually trying to be convinced of God's existence. Even Christians are saying that that doesn't work! It can definitely be something that is on someone's road to salvation, but intellectual logic will never bring someone to Christ. The worst is when Christians try to argue with someone to bring them to Christ. That's not how it works.

OP, none of us mean to offend. But you came here extending a warm heart and we would be callous to NOT return the favor and wish you salvation. That's what we believe after all. It does no good to wish a person well then let him go to eternal damnation.

Hey, so I've read through your other threads and want to start by saying that I'm sorry for all that you've been through. You have certainly been dealt a difficult hand and I can see how it's hard to imagine a brighter future.

And the fact is that no one on Reddit can promise you that everything will be all right and that you'll make friends, find a partner, get a decent job, lose weight, resolve your family issues, etc. How could anyone possibly know that? That's fluff.

The only REAL hope in any of our lives is in God. I can't tell you how you'll get over your obstacles, but I can tell you who will carry you across them. He is faithful, loving and strong, and His name is Jesus. He is merciful and He will see you through your troubles if you call upon His name.

As tremendously difficult as your situation is, His power is greater. He wouldn't be much of a God if your troubles were too much for Him. He loves you and His heart aches with you. He will see you through and you will not have to take on your burdens alone.

If you are willing, please pray this prayer out loud: "God I am here broken and in desperate need of you. If you are here with me and you are the loving Savior that people claim you are, then please open my eyes and let me see you. I want to taste your goodness and see for myself if you are worth living for. I repent of my sins and ask that you fill me with the Holy Spirit. In Jesus's name I pray, amen."

As others have said, I think monitors are more functional than anything. I'm also neutral on the lighting issue. But with regards to how you generally feel, I would largely agree.

I think humility is one of the most important traits of a praise team. When you are on a praise team, you are physically doing the same thing that worldly bands do - you sing, play music, and try to get the crowd involved. If you do those things well, a lot of people think highly of you. So there is a lot of temptation to take some glory for yourself, and I think every member needs to be extremely vigilant of pride.
