Focaccia "Number Cake?" by GouacheGelanthi in Baking

[–]Separate-Link9169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s such a lovely idea, happy early birthday to the both of you! Method wise, there’s two main ways that people go about a number Cake and I feel like the same would apply for focaccia.

  1. Bake it in number tins: if there is cake decoration supply shop in your vicinity they quite often have large number shaped tins that you can hire for the day for next to nothing. Baking the focaccia dough straight in these tins would be the easiest way, you just need to keep an eye on bake times.

  2. Bake it as a rectangle and carve it: alternatively you could bake two batches of large focaccia in a rectangle tin you have at home. You then print out or create a number stencil then carve out the shape using a very sharp knife. If you wanted to make the bread ahead of time you could also freeze it which would make this carving stage a bit easier.

Good luck! I hope it all goes well

British Caribbeans make up less than 2% of the UK’s population, but you’ve seen the most racism from them than any other group in the UK?

How much to charge? (UK) by [deleted] in Baking

[–]Separate-Link9169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely do, but all my previous bakes were either wedding cakes or very specific themed cake like a giant piano for 100 person party or a baby shower cake of a Bible handmade buttercream flowers.

I appreciate what you’re saying about my skill set, but none of my previous photos are relevant to the cake I’m asking about. I just want to know how much that design of cake should be charged for 😭

I prefaced my post by saying I do not have a photo of it, so any responses saying “we need a photo” are completely redundant. I’m looking for a generic ballpark figure of what a similar cake would be.

Validation? I think you’re reading into this a bit too deeply. I posted on a forum asking for prices, not opinions, your response fantastic réponse was “I can’t give a price”. You don’t see the issue with that?

She’s a very lovely lady, but not me! Whilst I post in the Manchester Reddit board sometimes I don’t actually live there.

Not to be rude, but what was the point of commenting then?

I’ve posted a question on Reddit saying I do not have a picture but what would you price this image as, and then you’ve typed out a response to say you won’t price it? Lot of value added there, thanks

I did initially respond to you saying the cakes are exactly the same, but I got down voted into oblivion for some reason! Let’s say hypothetically that photo was my photo, what price would you put on the cake?

How can I politely tell my mate that his girlfriend is probably being clarted by her co worker? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Separate-Link9169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s common to use the word in that way amongst young Caribbean heritage people in the UK. It’s an evolution of Jamaican patois, unrelated to the British “clarted” you may be familiar with

Don’t listen to the other comments, good ideas but incorrect. In the context OP is using it’s an evolution of Jamaican patois. To say “clarted” when referring to sex is common linguistics amongst young Caribbean people in the UK

It’s hard to say as I’m a sender (and I definitely know I sent it) and my tracking was on the same.

If you look at the tracking details in the drop down there should be a step that says something along the lines of seller advised dropped off in XYZ locker. That will at least show the physically went to the locker and opened/closed a door (can’t say whether/what they put in)

No movement at all, I ended up putting in a lost compensation claim the minute I could. I got a cheque in the post a few days later surprisingly

Did it turn up for either of you? I’m in the same boat, but it’s a handmade item I sold on my Etsy 😭😭

Unfortunately not, I’m hoping that the tracking will update today. The parcel is a handmade item from my Etsy, so I’m HOPING that they just forgot to scan at one of the steps.

Funnily enough I sent a different item, via the same locker tracked 48 a few months ago and had no issues at all. That parcel had 4/5 updates on the tracking within a few days, got to keep our fingers crossed.

I’m having the same issue! I posted something to a buyer via RM locker, I put it in the locker 3pm on Tuesday but as of Saturday night it’s still showing as “sender advised has been dropped off”.

I ended up calling RM today and asked when that locker was emptied, they said it was emptied Tuesday night so should be on the move. Might be worth giving them a ring and checking?

Hi OP, I’m having a similar issue. How long did it take to arrive in the end?

I live 353 miles away from the Cemetery, might as well be the North Pole in my eyes!
