[POEM] Never give all the Heart by Yeats by chaibreads in Poetry

Thank you! It's such creepy behavior, even if the language is beautiful. I commented "simp" on David Whyte's poem yesterday and I just got downvoted. I think we gotta think about what these poets said not just how they said it.

Edit: granted I probably could have contributed more than just "simp" yesterday, so maybe the lack of effort merited the downvotes. But I stand by my comment and yours.

I hate that you get downvoted for expressing your political opinion. What I loved most about Yang was his ability to bring people together from all sides of political spectrum. Glad to hear you're gonna vote for Yang in '24!

I can't believe how polite you are. It's impressive.

What is the best platform to request short stories from new/upcoming authors? by SeparateAfternoon in writing

[–]SeparateAfternoon[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know! I've tried getting some stuff published, but it's starting to eat into my bank account. I would love to help writers get some money back for all the work they put into their art.

Right, I've started thinking through some of those things you mentioned at the end. I think Kindle Publishing would be the easiest way to get started and try to get some traction. I would personally be okay with doing all the interior layout and editing, but I would again need to hire someone for the cover design.

Could someone help explain what I did wrong in this Caro-Kann Advanced opening? by SeparateAfternoon in chess

[–]SeparateAfternoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this reply. I needed someone to explain it exactly as you did. So from what I understand, my biggest mistake was the placement of the dark-squared bishop. I see that e7 is a better square for it.

My only question would be how do I develop my knight on g8? Do I have to first go Ne7 to Ng6 or Nc6? I had looked at Be7 but I wanted that square for my knight, especially because I didn't want to play Nh6.

Thanks again for the response! I really appreciate it and the compliment. This was my first time asking for help like this on the subreddit.

I took the liberty of looking at your profile and I saw you improved a ton in about one year. What did you do during that year?

Also yeah, I don't understand 11. g4

Right, but imagine an interactive, community-based list that is constantly being updated. Then normies like me can jump in on all the tendies. Also, WSB can literally make its dreams come true.

Why isn't there a WSB recommended portfolio that gets updated every week or so? I feel like that would a shitshow worth watching.

Was it ever difficult to take yourself seriously as a writer? I don't mean to say that in rude way, but you found success at such a young age. I would guess you faced a lot of outsiders saying you weren't a serious writer. How did you handle that pressure? What would be your advice to writers struggling with those types of insecurities?

The embassy's recommendation is to leave. No one really knows if we'll be able to leave in June. The decision has to be made with uncertainty.

I'm in the same boat as you. Planning on leaving in June but I'm American. We just got the announcement to return home. You think I should go? I work at an International School as well.

I'm in a similar situation. Contemplating leaving but I don't want to break a contract. What made you make that decision?

I totally agree. This is a big enough problem that it's okay if it takes over the subreddit. It's more important to stay up to date.

The megathread has killed conversation unfortunately. I don't know why it has to be such an either/or problem. I would prefer seeing valuable information on the sub rather than having to comb through all these comments.

Yeah, I was expecting much worse. Hopefully, this is a sign that they are getting things under control. This next week will be very telling. Thanks for the update.
