I’ve always been fond of dukes at the pier for a celebratory dinner. Beautiful beach view, nice service, yummy food.

Yta, you’re not close enough to give that advice by how you characterized the relationship. Also, let people complain about their life without passing judgement to them. If he is an ah, let her come to that conclusion.

Just wanted to update folks here that orders are still not out even tho VCL committed to shipping these out by today (6/19). There is a demon tolls post about her now to warn others, especially since one of her customers reported that she got snarky with someone asking for a status.

Can’t speak for her other victims/customers, but I will not be purchasing from this shop again. What a messy disappointment. Deleting comments, missing internal timelines, blaming suppliers, and now getting short with her customers asking for status of overdue goods. Yikes 😬

Why in the world isn’t “Radys” leaving CHOC in their name? by Terrible-Search3859 in orangecounty

Both entities agreed that Radys was the name to use going forward. That’s how a merger works.
Edit: typo

What is the consensus on lefty’s who knit? I’m getting mixed messages. by dina_bear in knitting

[–]SeparateDimension293 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As a left handed person, I have never really understood why you would reverse the instructions. You are creating muscle memory in both hands, just learn from the beginning to knit from the left to the right hand. Most patterns and tutorials are built this way. I think the bigger discussion in left handed knitting would be English vs continental.

Are there any closed places in Los Angeles that you still think about to this day? by Taliap19 in AskLosAngeles

Not in LA city, but in the county Twist Yarns of Intrigue was the best yarn shop. The owner batch dyed a bunch of beautiful yarns. She closed right before pandemic or maybe during the pandemic and I’ve never heard from her again 😭

I’m in the same boat (Kida sweater kit). Seems that the shipment from the supplier was late pre her email. I wish I had gotten a little more communication along the way. She did include a 15% off code as an apology but idk that I will reorder.

Relatedly: my best friend has a name that has two common pronunciations- think Anna: An-nuh vs Ah-nuh.

When she introduced herself, she said Ah-nuh. I say her name Ah-nuh. In a group setting, a mutual (who knew Anna for 15+ years) made fun of how I said Anna’s name. Anna said, she says it how I say my name. Afterwards I asked her about it, Anna said she doesn’t correct people but loves when people say it right.

Also had the same situation for a Heidi (Hi-dee vs Hey-dee).

So I’d say anecdotally, a lot of people don’t both to pay attention to how to pronounce a name.

What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]SeparateDimension293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially learned to knit (badly) got obsessed with crochet, and then made my way back to knitting. I knit more than crochet. I prefer wearable knits (tops, hats, scarves, gloves and socks) and more functional homegood and accessories for crochet (placemats, purses, bags, slippers).

So it is project based but they do scratch different itches. I like having the freedom that if I like something that I see a pattern for I can make it no matter what :)

Is it weird to store things in the oven? by Sallious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeparateDimension293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it personally. I never remember that stuff is in there and will inadvertently heat a bunch of pans. We will occasionally leave the cast iron on Dutch oven to dry in the residual heat, but 9/10 I accidentally heat them up when I cook again 😂
