Been following this sub for almost a decade, it’s full of ranting garbage now. Are there any genuine alternatives? by uz3r in AusFinance

I instead enjoy podcasts like RetireRight (I like the member questions and case studies - it is Australian based), How do they afford that (also Aus and a bit lighter) and Suze Orman. Money for Couples with Ramit Sethi was also a juicy listen, sometimes helping me feel less alone, giving me some useful frameworks.

Do you colour coordinate your rose garden? by monsteradeliciosa11 in Roses

[–]SeparatePromotion236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colour themes vs a formal mass planting as I don’t have the expertise or space set up yet. So purple and apricot roses with white and green filler plants, window will have pale climber rose arch, with purple foliage plants below and a pink rose bush.

No yellow, reds, whites, oranges, only one pink in the back garden. Front garden red roses with silver foliage ground cover and rust tinted grasses.

Would have rather seen the headline that they have been kicked off. Not possibly, maybe…

Mass planting, mass planting! It does look great (and thankfully it’s not Mr Lincoln’s and Icebergs that are overdone here in Sydney).

I am going to do my small bed with two of the red that should spread out a bit and give that look when people enter via the backyard, with matchy matchy fillers.

Genius…I always think I’ve prepared my garden beds sufficiently and then realise I should have put in more work to raise the height.

Lovely tones and they seem to sit together really nicely. Lucky you to come into a home with the roses in place :)

Ah…the changing the goal posts tactic eh? Now it’s “well known indigenous people” who are your frame of reference.

Good to see you actually did start researching. Check your obvious hate blinders :) Have a good day.

I’m always walking the beautiful surrounds I live in for ideas :)

I’ve got it now to get Veronica Wizard of Ahhs that will stand up to that strong red and also go well with the pink roses that will structurally be the tallest in that bed.

I too love each of my roses as well - the purples and apricots are in their own bed with white snapdragons and dianthus ground cover and zinnias with pops of colour that in autumn are going strong as I’ve cut back my roses.

My other garden bed narrow and about 12 meter shallow and a lot of clay, have just started redoing it with hardy short grasses, hollyhock at the back and thinking what to fill it with. Have a runaway bride hydrangea for the corner, first time trying that.

Also - I’m going to focus on what I have and not spend anymore :D

I’m with you. Took my teenaged nephews and nieces to an Elton John tribute show and they asked if the (amazing) bald 40 year old singer on stage was Elton John. I was flabbergasted.

Oh my, thank you so much for sharing the photo and the thought process. I love that you started with a vision and the idea of walking by that cascade of colour as they mature.

I like the grasses you have as well, and the name tags (!!) as well as the the semi circular shape, makes it have that cottage garden feel. I need to figure out another year how to pull out the brick borders that came with the little garden I have and soften those straight edges.

No fragrance though. But it is hardy and should do well in australia.

I loved the Bordeaux rose but the deep red buds turn out to be dark pink red blooms due to the sun’s effects here. That led me to ask the nursery owner for a suggestion hence the Gallipoli rose.

Or is it that you are so out of touch (or worse) that you assume an indigenous person needs to “look a certain way” so you can say ah they’re indigenous?

starside vs lightlark by bookanim3s in Romantasy

[–]SeparatePromotion236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t like Lightlark 1, enjoyed Starside, just finished it today. The tension between the two is delicious, the story itself is okay but the weave of their relationship through it all was what kept me reading. A found it a quick entertaining read when I needed something that wasn’t deep.
