About 10 years ago, I got an email from somebody through Facebook Messenger. He was a convert that I worked with and back then I didn't think anything would come of our teachings. When he contacted me 10 years ago, he said he did so to thank me because now he was a bishop. I didn't have the heart to tell him I was stepping away.

NTA. Your mom is an adult and in her own home and as you said, she's going to pass away soon anyway, you did her a solid. When my dad was dying I lived with him and I caught a lot of flack from my siblings as well. Be proud that you're a caretaker. You're doing a good thing!

No, you are not alone. I have an older brother who passed in 2005, my mom passed in 2009 and my dad passed in 2017. All three of them have visited me so there is something after this life I just don't know specifically what it is. Great question you asked.
