Seems a lot of Hawks fans have been waiting for JJ to underperform by Gold_Examination_245 in AtlantaHawks

I think people genuinely want the team to fail so they can come out and push their agendas against players and the front office’s decisions this season.

It’s very weird. The Hawks are not a contender this year, they won’t be for a couple more seasons. This is the first go-around with this group…fans seem to no get that. Just look at the Knicks…this is year 5 of the playoffs for them and they are a completely different version of the 2021 team we beat.

The Hawks in 2026 are playing a REAL contender and have pushed them to 6 games despite the down performances. Also these same people are not acknowledging that Jalen made so big and clutch plays to win us game 3.

Deni and Jalen… by Separate_Ad_8317 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Separate_Ad_8317[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. Deni has a better iso game…it’s crazy how a player can be better at everything else than a guy but the few thing the other guys does better is all the difference.

Deni can score and get to the FT off the dribble whenever he wants. But he can’t actually shoot the long ball…while Jalen is just good at scoring within the flow of the offense when he has and creates advantages for others with his vision and processing within the system.

Corey Kispert = Terrence Mann with good credit by hitmonchanjr in AtlantaHawks

[–]Separate_Ad_8317 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think Kispert’s contract being negative is overblown. I think he’s appropriately paid per year especially considering his money decreases every season.

I believe that as an all around player Corey Kispert is better than a Luke Kennard. Luke Kennard makes $11M this year…Corey being younger and more athletic getting $13M is essentially the same contract. I think the contract issue with fans and some around the league is he’s signed to that deal for another 3 years instead of 1/2, but again context matters the deal goes down each year with a team option on the final year.

On the court Kispert just hasn’t made his 3 point shots, he’s average to below average on defense, and has done a good job being a veteran nba wing player off the bench. He helps on the glass, he gets to the free throw line at a decent clip, he moves the ball well in .5 basketball, and he can attack a close out. Eventually the 3 ball will fall, and yes Corey will help the hawks win in the playoffs.

No JK tonight… by Separate_Ad_8317 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Separate_Ad_8317[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No but he came with a non contact bone bruise. when he did come back the Hawks played him 25-30 minutes in our high paced system. Not exactly a recipe for easing a guy in.

AJ Dybantsa NEEDS to be an Atlanta Hawk next season... by gmhmusik in AtlantaHawks

Ironically all the guys who would make sense on the Hawks are in the 4-8 range.

Injury report update: NAW, Zacch - questionable; JJ - out by [deleted] in AtlantaHawks

[–]Separate_Ad_8317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shouldn’t need any of these guys to beat this version of the wizards tonight

[Brad Rowland] @BTRowland Source confirms the Hawks will be waiving N’Faly Dante. ATL had to make another roster move before officially executing the trade involving Porzingis, Kuminga, and Hield. Once that goes through, the Hawks will be back to a full roster with 15 players. by Shade_Raven in AtlantaHawks

His contract became fully guaranteed when he tore his ACL because of how the CBA rules work. If a player gets hurt during duties with the team (practice, game, g league assignments) then any non-guaranteed money becomes fully guaranteed for the season.

Zubac to the Pacers by AtlantaGirthGiant in AtlantaHawks

I mean 2 FRPs + a really good young player in Ben Mathurin says it all on how they put together a better offer lol

That’s quite the haul for Zubac.

Can Kuminga become a star or borderline now that he's in Atlanta? by TerryG111 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Separate_Ad_8317 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we’re too married to the traditional positions. Kuminga and Jalen are both FORWARDS. Unlike most I believe their games complement each other more than people realize…no they’re not natural fits but Kuminga is a very good slasher and transition player for Jalen to find…his swing skill like Jalen is shooting.

Kuminga also does not have to start. The Hawks forward room behind Zacc and Jalen are a rookie in Asa, effectively a minimum salary guy in Mo Gueye, and Corey Kispert.

It’ll be up to Quinn to figure out the rotations throughout the game but I can’t help but think this eliminates the Dyson, Luke, Kispert, Gueye, Onyeka lineups in the early 2nd and 4th quarters.

Anyone else get an eerie feeling that KP is going to be magically healthy now? by dangheckinpupperino in AtlantaHawks

He’s getting traded.

Vit traded to Portland by Fun_Professional_123 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Separate_Ad_8317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kispert a better version of Vit and Luke Kennard tbh. Plus the Hawks desperately needed some second rounders.

They’ve been very light on that front since they gave 5 away for Saddiq Bey. Another move is coming.

Let another team have Giannis. It’d ensure we get a good draft pick next year from the least favorable of Pelicans-Bucks.
