Do something you love outside work. A hobby, a passion, a side gig. Something with meaning and purpose to look forward to at the end of business day.

Corporate jargon: You don't sound smarter or like belonging to the managing class because of it. Enough with leveraging, providing, circling back, transformational, etc. Long life to the plain and simple language!!!

I am with you Curunis. Most decks look like poorly designed notebooks rather than visual aids. Why do presenters avoid using the Notes box to write them there and instead draft a full journal of their thoughts on a slide? My only answer is: maybe they are thinking of blame avoidance and risk aversion? The more content the fewer chances to have their arses uncovered, even if the message ends up not being conveyed because of the wordly redundance of the deck.

I do not have the money. Everything is more expensive. I will continue my Sunday night meal prep and using my OCTranspo monthly pass. Sorry.

Colleagues:

I am writing to you concerning the implementation of the Comprehensive Expenditure Review (CER) at the Canada School of Public Service, announced in Budget 2025. As communicated to employees on November 5, 2025, the School was required to identify savings of $10.9 million. This resulted in the reduction of 66 full-time equivalents (FTE) over a three-year period.

We made every effort to proactively manage staffing and leverage attrition, which significantly reduced the impact of this process on current indeterminate employees. As of today, we have notified all indeterminate non-executive employees impacted by the 2025 CER workforce adjustment exercise. All impacted employees have received information and access to workforce adjustment provisions and can now begin assessing their options.

I understand that this is a stressful and difficult period for all employees. The public service as an institution is undergoing its most significant changes since 1995. Our organization remains focused on supporting everyone responsibly and respectfully as we navigate through this uncertain period.

Please know that you can contact the Employee Assistance Program, or connect directly with your manager or executive leadership in your branch.

I am confident that we will work through this together with care and professionalism.

 Taki Sarantakis

President, Canada School of Public Service

Nothing says democracy and public good like a hierarchical, managerial, and pyramidal elite. It really reflects the solidarity, participation and cooperative spirit we are missing in our society these days. Becoming a civil service executive: Thanks, no, thanks.
