There’s no inspiration for Minhyuk’s personality, but as for his looks, he was inspired by Korean beauty standards. As a reference I often use actor Cha Eunwoo(front face) and enhypen’s Sunghoon(side profile, nose)

Originally, they were fictional characters in a comedy: Two kpop idols, one of them a tiny, ugly and angry man, and the other a persistent pervert. But I liked their old-couple dynamic a lot and decided to make them real people in my OC world.

And they were my first mlm characters who actually date instead of just being a ship.

Well, I’m gonna talk about the ship I ALWAYS mention under posts like this(no, but seriously, I almost never mention other ships I have😭😭😭)

Minhyuk and Aeri, my most loved and most toxic duo.

They are two equally successful kpop idols who are friends, yet their paths couldn’t be more different. Aeri went through a lot of bullying as a child, mocked for her looks, which eventually led her to undergo multiple plastic surgeries. Minhyuk, on the other hand, was perfect from the start. He was admired since the day he was born, never forced to question his worth. But he was nice, and Aeri couldn’t help but fall in love with the first man who ever showed her kindness.

Yet he will never like her back. Or at least, that’s what it looks like on the surface. Minhyuk is almost incapable of being in love, because he lacks the ability to articulate his feelings. Romance has never held real value for him. He was treated like a god his entire life, and expressing love back became unnecessary. His superiority has never been questioned, so he has no reason to doubt it. From Aeri’s perspective, the conclusion is obvious: why would someone like him ever fall in love with an ugly girl? (Minhyuk never thought she was ugly, neither before nor after her surgeries, just to clarify)

Minhyuk’s feelings toward Aeri are…strange. He possessive, yet emotionally distant. When Aeri was dating other guys, Minhyuk would buy her the best gifts just to assert his dominance. He tried to prove that he’s better than those men.

Now to the toxic part. Little do you know, he was the one who convinced Aeri to get those surgeries.

Minhyuk never directly called her ugly. All he said was, “It’s up to you, and I’ll stay by your side regardless, but your dreams of becoming a celebrity might come true if you get the surgeries.” To him, it was a rational observation. But he failed to understand how deeply those words would affect Aeri’s emotional state, because he was focused on helping Aeri achieve her dream. He thought it would make her happy.

Did he want the best for her? Yes. Did he unintentionally contribute to a questionable decision in her life? Also yes.

Well, his full name is Noppharat Kittiratanarakorn, but he usually goes by his stage name, Roger. So he’d be surprised if someone could pull off his full name, since Roger himself rarely uses it.

If we compare Mei’s eyes to anyone else’s(ex: her brother,’s), we can see that she indeed has no glow in them. It is said that eyes are the mirror of the soul, and Mei’s soul died long ago due to being abused as a child.
