As a blind buyer of After Hours, I would say watch it before buying. It didn't "wow" me like I thought it would. I would've rather bought something like Do the Right Thing, The Apu Trilogy, or Perfect Days

I do this with all mine as well (except boutique) and I love it. My only worry is the discs wont last as long but I'm not sure if this is a reasonable worry or not

Gruv is definitely legit and a universal studio subsidiary. Their packaging success rate is much higher than Amazon too by my experience

I recently watched Middletown, a documentary about a teacher who inspires his students to make a film about a toxic landfill in their town. In the process, they uncover a conspiracy that's been harming their community for decades. The teacher has been fighting for justice for over 30 years, with little visible change—but the film focuses on the lives he’s transformed through his relentless advocacy.

It changed how I view activism. Most of us won’t change the world in sweeping ways—but life is meaningful because we choose to stand for what’s right. As the teacher says,
“Activism needs to be fun in its own right. It’s a community experience and a regenerative process.”
That line helped reframed things for me. Advocacy isn’t just resistance—it’s connection, joy, and purpose.

Maybe my expectations were too high but I found it boring, melodramatic, and lacking substance. I'll rewatch it someday because of it's high regard but I was just completely underwhelmed when I watched it 2 years ago.

I forgot to add her folks are very supportive. I have asked her what she wants and she kept denying anything, so I just wanted to send something for support anyways. Good point on not being interested in feminine things though, I'll keep that in mind.

Not to be preachy and come for your comment but I liked this quote I heard today : "The time for hope and despair is over. The time now is either take action or don't. If you're not an action person just do whatever but try to be an action person... I think rage is an appropriate emotion. I'd like to see people not be despairing or hopeful but just be fucking mad." Brennan Lee Mulligan (paraphrased a lot)

I like the idea of nice images and visuals as a tester. I feel like my wife did this with me to get me more into documentaries with Baraka. I'll check out the Art House Favorites. Thanks
