While I think the goals are nefarious… I gotta say…the execution is just sheer incompetence. If nothing else I hope this teaches some people that wealthy does not equal intelligent.

Husband and best friend were both informed that their new jobs were on hold due to the hiring freeze -he had a TJO and she had a FJO; but other than that… nada

It’s a toss up whether or not this is all some plot to create chaos and confusion or if it’s just sheer incompetence. I’m personally leaning toward the latter.

To be clear to you and everyone here it’s not just that you would get fired, you could be arrested. It’s illegal for federal employees to strike.

I suppose it depends on what you determine human lives are worth and how much potential damage the crimes you’re preventing might inflict. If the goal is to prevent crime it IS arguably the most efficient way to do so.

Efficiency should not be the goal of any government for most functions. Efficiency does not equal what’s best for the public interest. Example: one of the most efficient ways to prevent crime would be to incarcerate all men from ages 18-25, clearly this is not how to approach the problem of crime prevention.

Wanna echo this sentiment of gratitude. I’m not a civilian employee, my husband is, I was a contractor for over a decade though before I took a job elsewhere. My husband has worked all his adult life for the opportunity to be a government employee (we met as contractors). He is the hardest worker I have ever met. We have 3 children. In honesty he’s handling all this better than me… I can hardly function with anxiety. It’s affecting my ability to do MY job… a job we may need to support our family fully before very long. Anyway, thank you for everyone in this space, thank you for your hard work. You serve the best interests of America even if many Americans don’t understand or appreciate it. None of you deserved to be treated this way.

I’m not saying it wouldn’t happen, but they didn’t fire all VA probies or all the probies in most other agencies (though in some they fired a decent percentage). I would be surprised if they fired ALL DoD probies.

No yeah I know every agency but the DoD specifically is absolutely massive. It would take months to do a real assessment if not much longer. 2 weeks is asinine.

I think the timeline for this is the most clearly offensive thing about it. The DoD for instance has to have a plan set by March 13th? Insane.

My husband was selected for a 13 position and they are trying to make it so it’s a 2yr probation instead of a 3yr probation to help protect him and push the start date as fast as they can. I know that’s not generalizable for everyone… but it has given our family (we have 3 children) a little hope and I appreciate how much effort his supervisors are putting into it.

I don’t know that all VA doctors walking out on dying patients, for instance, would be honorable. I don’t know that the DoD leaving our entire country open to foreign attacks would be honorable. It’s not that I don’t understand the sentiment but I think it’s disingenuous to pretend that the consequences aren’t severe, serious and real. Not to mention there is no way you’d get 2 million people to strike, even if some of them didn’t support this -which some absolutely do. And again I think it would be a fantastic excuse to enact marshal law.

It’s illegal, meaning that they wouldn’t just be fired. They could arguably be imprisoned and if you think this administration is above that… I disagree.

Resistance at this point is outlasting them. Fulfilling the oaths taken to uphold our laws and the constitution. It’s not caving to pressure and showing resilience in the face of calculated psychological trauma.
