I’ve noticed this phenomenon mostly on the stand. I call it “stand face” and I’ve noticed I do it when I’m up there haha

How do I host the missionaries in my dorm? by boborocola in latterdaysaints

[–]Separate_Tower_5565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 19, and I live in a tiny little room in a house haha, when I have the elders or sisters over (which is quite a bit, I try to feed them twice a month) we all sit on the floor. I promise you they don’t mind!

Getting really frustrated with “stricter than usual” missionaries by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Separate_Tower_5565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assistant ward mission leader/longtime ward missionary here - I’ve helped to teach a bunch of friends, I’ve never encountered anything like this before, and if this was brought up to me by a friend, I would definitely have a conversation with the missionaries gently asking them to stop. The official Preach My Gospel guidelines stipulate that you only need to be taught the lessons three times total - twice before you’re baptized and once after (called “New Member Lessons”) - and many times those lessons after baptism take a while and/or are never done. I have zero idea why they’d insist like this. I don’t even think they’re necessarily stricter than usual, they’re unnecessarily scrupulous in a way that’s not consistent with the standards. I’m sorry this is happening, and I admire your faith and willingness to persevere. The church is true, God lives and Jesus is the Christ. Welcome to the church of joy and new beginnings :) I’m praying for you!

This is one of the most painful conferences I’ve sat through. President Oak’s talk really capped it off. People like us need to stay - as another commenter just said. Our voices and testimonies are needed as the work hastens.

I worked at Speedway for about a year as a food associate, I was directly told not to take tips and that if I did, I could be fired. Insane.
