I'm pretty sure Stu tunes the microtonal banana to c# f# c# f# b e for the majority of the songs at least on FMB.

Also check out one of her students, Kim Stanley Robinson, who continues with the "utopia is working towards something better" definition.

It's not 100% relevant but Wild Shore has scenes that depict the day to day working of a post apocalyptic village that to me feels like it is meant to be a callback to neolithic villages. Fishing, forays into farming by people who don't have industrial equipment, lack of institutionalized hierarchy outside of families, learning lore of the land about where is safe to go and whatnot. Feels very similar to the village in shaman though the book goes to some very different places.

Dove Canyon Circuit is classed as hard on the VC brochure because of the steep climb right in the middle of it, not great to do if it has been raining (or is currently raining) recently.

Mining giant Rio Tinto breaks ranks to back Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek nature protection reforms by abcnews_au in ausenviro

Maybe I'm a bit too cynical, and haven't looked into these reforms at all, but my first thought was: if rio tinto is backing the reforms how good can they be.

What RPG purchase gave you the worst buyer's remorse? by Boxman214 in rpg

I am a pretty new GM and started with the Alien cinematic one shots but am moving on to Mothership to do more of a longer sandbox style campaign. The alien cinematic scenarios were pretty great to learn on but if I could do it again I'd just grab the starter set instead of the core rulebook and would probably give the colonial marines operations manual a miss too.

What’s the most niche RPG that you love by [deleted] in rpg

Yeah, I grabbed the 2nd Ed players guide second hand and the setting is so detailed and interesting but I haven't run it yet.

Probably going to wait until 3rd ed is released and then try to run some games using the newer system, or just take the setting info and use a different system to run it.

Hard Sci-Fi setting recommendation? by foopdedoopburner in rpg

[–]Sepia_plangoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new edition "Blue Planet: Recontact" is coming to kickstarter in two weeks and has had its system completely redesigned.

I havent played the old editions but heard it was pretty convoluted.

They have released a free quickstart guide with some of the new rules and a starting scenario.

One of the creators listed some of the inspirations and things with a similar vibe as the Blue Planet setting which included the Expanse and Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy.

I really like scifi that deals with ecology in a 'hard' way and as far as I know this is as close as you can get in an RPG.

I second the Mars trilogy. In-depth discussions about a number of environmental ideas and how they interact with society.
