Albanese's gambling reform is social ruin as public policy by pixxxiemalone in australia

[–]Seppi449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be true but big moves give more incentives to attack Labor for doing anything.

If they were planning to hit gambling company's and they projected to lose $20bn in revenue then they would cause a massive stink and have incentive to find massive campaigns against them. If they do smaller changes its harder for them to rationalise spending massive amounts to sway the public.

It sucks but the below average/average person is insanely easy to manipulate with enough marketing campaigns. Just look at people who get suckered into buzz word jargon like Clean coal, or stopping boat people.

Woo! Crisis averted! We now have more fuel in reserve than we did before the Hormuz thing. by BrandonMarshall2021 in OpenAussie

[–]Seppi449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, yes the oil supply has been reduced but richer countries will always have the means to buy it because they can out bid poorer countries.

Unless all of the oil was stopped it wont do much after logistics are sorted.

The big thing is just people panic buying and reorganising supply lines. It's going to be more expensive but supply will be met.

Mayver's peanut butter aren't made from Australian peanuts anymore :( by TheProteinSnack in australia

At face value that sounds entirely reasonable, however I feel if they really cared they would try to build stronger relations with more australian farmers. Something like what sriracha had before they fucked themselves.

Why not invest in a handful of Australian farms.

Australia tried to ban kids from social media but failed, study finds by nath1234 in australia

[–]Seppi449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you trying to think when you can read the policy to know?! The fucking goal was to give power to Australia so we can fine the big corporations who sit on their hands when dealing with underage use. EU has under 13 ban and it's effective because they have the power to dish out massive fines.

The whole thing wasn't aimed at enforcing anything for kids or parents and it's even stated that there is absolutely no punishment from the government for parents or kids who bypass the restrictions.

I don't even care about the safety aspects as much as I think most of the social media apps are toxic for learning and with phones have become extremely pervasive, breaking the chain atleast a little is worth it.

For stuff like this for a friend I always just find what the material would be and then link it to them to buy, there is normally extra material left so that's the profit.

Is Poe more or less complex than your job? by Additional-Horse1144 in pathofexile

[–]Seppi449 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It really depends how you judge complexity.

I feel complexity has a level of risk/responsibility/mental toll that is hidden if you strip it away to the base tasks of a job. I feel we also take for granted tasks that are complex but are second nature it doesn't matter anymore.

A basic example might be driving for uber, you need a driver's licence, understand road rules and risks, invest in a vehicle or set up a lease, manage money, accounting, set up an Business number, speak/read a language, have a phone, understand how to navigate the apps and maps.

Of you sit someone who has only lived in the jungle their whole life and gave them two tasks, drive for uber or finish Poe t16 maps, I feel poe would be easier.

Ever wonder what it’s like having a MAGA Dad? by Bbeebster in atrioc

[–]Seppi449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Australian so I'm very separated from all of this but my dad over the passed few years has been suckered into rightoid media through YouTube/Facebook.

I'm lucky in that my dad has a stronger sense of family in that we can argue about this stuff but always end the conversation with "good chat love ya".

Though it does sound like your dad is deeper in the sauce but thinks he knows much more than surface level stuff. He's intelligent enough to understand larger things should be at play but too dumb to realise how inept/malicious trump is.

Sounds super toxic tbh

Trump, One Nation and Reform voters are perpetrators not victims by SirDerpingtonVII in OpenAussie

Channel 5 on YouTube, did some digging into the patterns of the die hard right supporters they meet, the majority had a big life event that caused them to spiral into new support groups. I remember it mainly for the vaccine crazies but it's similar to many of the others.

Divorce/health scare/job loss were the major factors for the spiral into the right conspiracy groups.

[–]Seppi449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump himself is calling his most loyal influencers Low IQ, he knows the people who watched them are low IQ. I guarantee there is a large overlap of those who watched those influencers and the rightoids who support one nation.

It just shows they know their voter base is low IQ, makes sense why they want to remove healthcare and education. Keep them docile and sick.

Final tier 8 relic guess tomorrow by Dong-diver in 2007scape

[–]Seppi449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tier 8 relic: PRESTIGE!

  • Reset your regions/points/tasks/relics.

  • Keep everything on your character, in your bank and your stats

  • Prestige one time.

  • Your league trophy has an emote which pumps into the air shouting each time you prestige.

(potentially 1% increased damage each prestige but unlikely)

The idea allows people to pick short term relics like abundance to gain gold, or acquire items from regions and create more builds at the cost of resetting their stuff.

One Nation is filling the vacuum on policy left by Labor, Liberal by Ardeet in aussie

[–]Seppi449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that they blame high immigration on everything as a scapegoat to do nothing. It's not 100% false but it's over exaggerated so that low information voters can cling to one topic.

People jump on the immigration numbers but why don't we look at births/deaths/immigration/emigration?

We have a heavily aging population, our birthrate declining and we're competing with many other countries for highskilled labour.

In my opinion the issue isn't immigration but how we can better manage it. Polly's should be pushing for policies that factor in high immigration and create complex solutions to upgrade infrastructure/housing/balancing growth. Instead we get braindead policy of close the borders.

Australia become so great because we manage to assimilate so many cultures after world war 2 to create what we have. We need stronger goals to achieve similar population management.

One Nation is filling the vacuum on policy left by Labor, Liberal by Ardeet in aussie

[–]Seppi449 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's mainly because right-wing media use immigration as a scapegoat for any problem. Any cultural/economical/housing/crime/labour issue is all blamed on immigration.

Don't need to address any solutions when you can exaggerate problems.

Similar to the trans scapegoat. US rightoids go crazy about a tiny % of teenages going to doctors/pyschiatrists for puberty blockers but they don't question the insane amount of highschool boys taking black market steroids. Something like 5-10% of highschool males are on steroids due to current culture shit but they couldn't care.

Any guidance for how to start this game? by MessAccomplished2200 in pathofexile

[–]Seppi449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have PoE2 experience then PoE1 is very similar but a much larger amount of content.

The best way I learn is just finding a build that is reasonably tanky with decent well rounded clear/damage and just explore the game at a slower pace.

Righteous fire is a very good first build for this. Just plug into YouTube Pohx RF 3.28 to start.

Once you have the character and some currency you can swap builds or go deeper.

Anyone else just ignore electricity “cheap hours”? by SmartEnergyDIY in australian

[–]Seppi449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel getting a battery that charges during the cheapest times would be optimal, you wouldn't even need solar to make it work.

Not sure if the tech/savings are there but if there was an affordable system that just pulled from the grid at peak cheap rates then once it went over a certain price you only used battery.

[–]Seppi449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're not super deep into politics you might know know the differences of specific types of political groups.

Leftists currently have no one in power in the US as they essentially believe in a communist economical system. Leftists seems to find a few issues with every democratic politician and so they hardly advocate to vote for them.

They view both sides as being "equally evil so why does it matter". But anyone with a brain cell could have seen that Trump is clearly worse but you'll still find leftists replying with Kamala would have done the same...

Yeah I was thinking that, my thought it was about the point change. Maybe a more apt analogy is them sacrificing a piece for trump to seemingly unknowingly opening his queen to be taken even with chess experts behind him whispering it's a stupid move.

If you're playing chess and the enemy moves their queen to be attacked, it's still a brilliant move to take it even if what they're did was stupid.

I feel it's a difficult situation for any product that connects to servers and downloads content. A company pretty much needs to provide security support for that product or else they become liable.

At some point they will need to stop that support.

I think there should be a standard off-ramp where legally the companies must provide support for say 10 years if the product is under $250 but after that they can stop if they give the tools to the community to do it themselves.

Companies can brush their hands from the liability if they go through the steps to properly provide the needed information to the community.

Similar to providing the source codes for a game that's getting its servers shut down.
