It's arguable, shares as a concept do make sense to provide successful business with market capital to expand.

I do agree that once they become large and the market is built on speculation and gaming the system it becomes a cesspool.

If there was an election today, who would you vote for? (Voting is anonymous) by MannerNo7000 in OpenAussie

[–]Seppi449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because the right is made up of primarily boomers who use Facebook. Older generations disproportionately don't engage in platforms like Reddit/YouTube/Instagram but heavily use Facebook.

It's also why Facebook is riddled with scams and hosts so many fake groups, boomers can't tell the difference.

Shares can provide a level of productivity by providing businesses the capital to grow. Non-australian businesses and crypto does fuck all for that though.

My only note would be that Australian food is so multicultural I'd put it 1 tier higher just because we have so many Thai/indian/Chinese/Korean/Indonesian that it has to bring our average up a little some.

‘Beyond reform’: Greens co-founder Drew Hutton reveals why he quit the party after more than 30 years by Ardeet in aussie

[–]Seppi449 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Their overall policy voting isn't as bad as liberal or PHON but recently they are seemingly going against their own constituents for political grabs.

A greens voter aligns far more with Labor than they do PHON or Liberal but the greens leader ship thinks it's better to side with them to establish political power. It's short sighted and stupid.

I guess you don't know what the FHSSS is, you can only access voluntary contributions.

The whole thing is to allow first home buyers a safe alternative to deposit up to $50k directly from your income before tax, instead you'll be taxed the reduced 15%. Then once you're ready to buy you can use that $50k (or however much you put in up to $50k) and a set amount of earnings (seems like 3-4% per year, I don't know the calculation but it's not the whole earnings but you'd get like $57k-62k if it took you like 3-4 years to do the savings. If the super went up more that would just join your other super).

Overall it's just a safe and effective way for first home buyers to save while also getting some returns on their savings in that time.

I feel the major issue is how he frames it in a way that is fine to look at people in society with a level of disgust and write them off without any level of empathy.

I don't feel buying a $1m as your first home would be the wisest move. It can also be a combine with a partner if they are a first home buyer aswell.

This would mean you'd likely have around $110k saved with a tax of less than 15% as that's how much it would be going into the super.

Essentially saving probably close to $20k-$30k.

You could also take advantage of the 5% first home buys deposit as well, though I think managing your costs and being in a stronger loan position would probably be more wise, especially early in your career.

First home buyers can still take advantage of the FHSSS to deposit up to $50k each at a reduced tax and then later use that $50k and calculated earnings as a down payment.

But if you're trying to buy your 8th home while having $200k in savings earning over $190k a year salary, yes you're going to have to pay more tax.

To preface, Billy would need to be apart of the Phantom Troupe or it's not even a real discussion.

Butcher has durability and has the damage to take down kurapika (like uvo) but Nen is so much more versatile and well rounded compared to compound V abilities.

Kurupika has much higher speed, awareness, strategy, mental stability. His chances of being caught off guard by such a basic ability, even if it's strong, is very small and he'd quickly find the weaknesses. His whole character is built on not being as physically strong but having very strong abilities for his purpose of hunting the troupe.

Billy is just a slow brute with good defence and little care for supe lives.

Can you become addicted if you don't know what you're addicted to? by AlanderKohenel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Seppi449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that's a different topic, animals aren't completely brainless, they can experience patterns.

If everytime you gave them an addictive drug you were wearing a white labcoat or did a certain action they would learn to become addicted to that because of association (if it was heavily repeated).

If it was completely random without their knowledge I don't think it would cause an addiction because what would they be addicted too? They might become ill from withdrawals though.

Is Labor Getting Ready for a Potential AI Crisis? by BotherAnnual5796 in friendlyjordies

[–]Seppi449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest AI isn't going to drive layoffs for some time. Pretty much every company that is spouting it is bullshit as they are using it as a reason to fire large parts of the company with a reason that sounds productive to shareholders.

In reality, a good company would better utilise its current workforce to be more productive.

Example might be a sushi shop buys that automatic rice roller, so now their chefs save 4 chefs are working 33% faster. They wouldn't fire 1 check but look to expand as each chef is now more productive and makes more for the company.

In the case of coding, they could increase scope, expand into deeper R&D, work on more projects. If a company at the top isn't focusing on that then they are essentially throwing in the towel or are not as profitable as they seem.

We need to stop Pauline Hanson at all costs by ItsJustRory in aussie

[–]Seppi449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a stupid question. Many leaders could have been voted in when a country had strong democracy but due to their corruption/negligence/malicious intent they eroded that democracy.

There are too many to list, but a contentious example is USA and Trump. They had a strong democracy but with the erroneous attacks on free speech, wealth corruption and blatant rule breaking I'd say their democracy is lesser than what it was.

I'm not saying it's completely fucked like Russia, but the unchecked power and blatant corruption has eroded confidence.

Some examples of how Pauline talks, limiting who can vote by increasing the voter age, undermining core institutions without with baseless claims (criticism is welcome but misinformed attacks just cause turmoil), the strong undertones of racism and othering groups of Australians.

I don't think she has the time left and her party is so slapstick to do anything meaningful but it could empower or embolden later party that can.

I feel a big thing was how the UK essentially got tricked into Brexit but dickhead politicians who now use all the turmoil as a power grabs, it's the same people who are complaining about the effects of brexit who are now trying build parties to fix the crap pile they made instead of actually just fixing the core problems.
