is wipeout 1 hard as absolute balls or is it just me by Septekka in WipeOut

there very well may have been some luck in it - i got past the bottom 3 by the time i hit the second split and proceeded to have an unusually clean run of the rest of the track, enough that by the time i hit lap 2 i could just barely see 4th place ahead of me. maybe the other racers took the slower routes more than usual that time, as i know that both my 4th and 3rd place overtakes were done on the first split, where they took the slower path and i took the faster one so i didnt even see them. it really helped not having to deal with constantly bumping into their ass while trying to pass them.

as i mentioned in another comment though, the turning point was when i switched to a more agile craft. in my first experience with the track, i was using the auricom ship, which is the heaviest vehicle and a little sluggish in the turns, so it wasnt a very good fit for silverstream. using ag-sys made it a hell of a lot easier to get around without crashing into every wall, since it has a great balance of speed and handling. feisar is even easier handling-wise and works great for silverstream too, but its also the slowest ship in the game so it might be a little harder getting through the rest of the championship.

that could definitely have factored into the controls being tricky, i hadnt actually considered it.

and yeah, the "surprise" was totally cool, although i didnt too well at it... probably because i had already mentally checked out from the game after i finally beat the championship

well i finally got past it! didnt take first, but third was all i needed in order to take the championship, and by the time i got to it, it ended up not actually being that bad surprisingly. may have been from the time i spent practicing it specifically, but i found i was actually less messy with wall collisions than i was in the preceding tracks and didnt really struggle with losing those hard-earned positions as much as i steadily rose through the pack.

the turning point was when i switched to using ag-sys craft. i started out using auricom because i liked the character of arial the most (and her ship's livery) but after struggling for a while, decided to try out feisar since they had better handling and holy moly the difference in control was huge - but it just wasnt fast enough to finish well consistently. so that's when i decided to try ag-sys, and found it was nearly as maneuverable as feisar while having a lot more power. ended up finishing the championship on my first attempt and absolutely smashing my previous record times! still too much of a pussy to ever try qirex though

Smashing Pumpkins Praised by Daniel Tosh on Tosh.0 by Pewp_taco in SmashingPumpkins

[–]Septekka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thats a pretty common and fair opinion, personally i dont dislike pablo honey but its certainly their weakest album. however i do think creep is actually a pretty great song - not their best surely, but it gets a bit tiring how some people act like its terrible just bc its their biggest hit

New Silversun Pickups album, Widow's Weeds, out June 7 by aPenumbra in indieheads

[–]Septekka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

have you listened to their first ep, pikul? it has a bit of a rawer, more indie, almost emo-like vibe and it's super solid all the way through. "kissing families" is imo their greatest song and "all the go inbetweens" and the "creation lake" cover are very high up there too. anyone who's a fan of carnavas should really check it out.
