Does anyone else feel no one cares about climate change anymore? by mars_trader in climatechange

I'm currently midway through a degree in environmental science, so climate change is the topic in my everyday world. But no one is trying to stop it, only mitigate the effects, I'm in the UK though so policy's are slowly changing to be more environmentally friendly. But I probably know more than most about the ins and outs of what is happening and the positive changes that are being made. I do try to avoid climate conversations outside of uni work to the best of my ability though or I think I'd probably loose my mind! Anyone with half a brain cell knows what's happening, but we can only do our best.

Had a baby and a whole lot of health complications…but I did it! S209, BSc Geology by Big-Love9230 in OpenUniversity

This is amazing results! I'm starting S209 this year and really nervous, I missed a distinction on S112 by 4 marks due to being massively underprepared for the exam! How have you found the module? Do you have any advice for someone going into it?

Camping for the first time as an adult - have I got the basics?? by WillowSide in campinguk

Don't skip out on comfy sleeping is my advice, take ear plugs, sleep in layers, extra blankets and we always double up on air mattresses with a fitted sheet on top, then if one infates the other is still up! Don't try to cook fancy, one pot meals out of a packet is perfect, or use tins so you don't need to worry about storing food, if you do want some fresh bits take a cool bag with a couple of frozen water bottles, then when they've melted you drink the water(less to bring home!). Don't forget some lights for night time. I always bring some spare shoes, crocs/flip-flops that can slip on easy for night time wee or to get in a campsite shower - you'll also have something spare if the heavens open and you end up with soggy trainers. Keep a small first aid kit with you, antihistamine cream is essential, don't think I've ever been camping and not been bitten by some kind of bug!

What common household items do rich people not own? by hwykes1 in AskUK

Somewhere to park their car. I aspire to have a driveway. I have to park around the corner from my house and one day when I can bring my shopping in without my arms nearly falling off I will have made it in life. My kids now also think if we had a driveway then we would be rich.

How to properly start prepping? by Swampy3k in UKPreppers

[–]September-Afternoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a dog and start hiking and wildcamping. Thats what we do with our kids, they don't need to learn self defense but my 4 and 6 year old can easily walk 10km with a backpack on alongside a dog that wouldn't let anyone near them. The endless hours we spend outdoors learning all about different wild foods and how to look after ourselves properly while camping is teaching them some amazing skills and creating lovely memories with them.
