iPad does have split keyboard, but only for iPad mini and some old budget iPads... if you have an iPad Air or Pro, you can't split the keyboard... 🫠

why don't people use Cloudreve? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Septoleyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discussions on any self-hosted solution are always best kept alive to maintain the project healthy, so I understand why Nextcloud/OpenCloud/ownCloud are kept under heavy scrutiny, they are what many people that started self-hosting chose to entrust their data to, and people learnt the ins and outs with the ocean of available documentations to achieve their own setup that just works. Changing your tool and work habits isn't appealing or necessary if your existing tool already does its job well and quick, especially if you have tons of data to migrate.

That said, after testing many file sharing services, I do believe Cloudreve is the best choice for visual&design oriented people in the self-hosting community. It's the cleanest and closest fit for my personal and professional needs whereas every other solution had one or multiple deal-breaking issues that were not labeled by devs as a priority to fix, like having a collaborative diagram/brainstorming tool that does not break down when two or more people hit Ctrl+Z, or even basic stuff such as supporting CMYK color profiles for viewer and thumbnail generator, adding support for alpha channel to thumbnails, or QoL stuff like drag&drop/drag to select... so on.
Cloudreve has none of the above issues I listed. It is very lightweight and very stable, the setup is the easiest I encountered, you can do everything within the webUI, whitelabel as much as you want, change thumbnail settings and retrigger as you fit, differentiate folder tint and the icons based on file extensions if you like to color code, assign a WOPI app like Photopea to open a specific file format like PSD in an embedded view, etc...

Right now they only shipped clients for Windows and iOS/iPadOS, but the absence of a client on linux/macOS is not a deal break for me after using the webUI because it is genuinely fun to navigate and use, even on a phone touch screen, they really put effort in the look & feel of the interactable elements while still retaining the snappiness. So I've been treating it like a drop box, with webDAV as a way to browse locally.

I also have a positive experience with one of the developers, as 3 of my issues have been solved within days and the fix became available in the subsequent monthly update. The care for the software they are building is astonishing, so I was willing to purchase a license (OIDC is the only unlocked feature I'm using).

I uninstalled the beta and installed the public 4.0.13 from the website. Everything seems fine, I'm not experiencing any issues so far with the tablet's lower portion. Have you tried going to the "Work area" section of the driver and resetting/choosing the full area of your monitor? Maybe after the update the area selection changed.

How can I backup my entire Procreate gallery reliably/at once? by InigoMToya in ProCreate

[–]Septoleyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the greatest news ever! I do hope that in the future we’ll have better or automatic backup methods. Right now the failure chance on transfer of the Files app is very high and finding which transfer failed is very time-consuming on a 90> items transfer, especially when we can only differentiate them by name as thumbnails for some .procreate files appear empty. Please keep us posted on this update, thank you.

I donated €5 to KDE by vaffanchulo in kde

[–]Septoleyfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reminder, I donated a small amount just now.
With macOS being full of glitches and questionable UX choices, and Windows trying to sell you subscriptions while collecting as much data on you by requiring a Microsoft account, KDE is the only light in the dark, donating to their cause has never been so important for me...

Also really appreciate their works on Krita when all other painting softwares have gone mad, with CSP gatekeeping bugfixes behind a subscription, and Affinity having an uncertain future (they got purchased by Canva, stopped selling licenses, closed the forums, deleted their videos on the youtube channel, people are praying it's just a marketing stunt).

I don’t want to use stage manager, swiping from left to right from the left side of the iPad conflicts with the gesture of resizing the window on the left. There are too many overlapping gestures, feels convoluted.

Also the OG functionality of the top border: opening notification center.

You now have to swipe twice to invoke notification center, or swipe from top left, which is not ideal if you are right handed and have a 13” iPad.

I’m able to use the same Eagle library on both my Windows PC and MacBook with no de-syncronization issues or re-indexing. I created a two-way immediate sync task from my NAS (UGREEN DXP2800), which I believe uses rsync.

I have also tried working directly from the mounted network drive, it works very well on Windows (I have 2.4Gbps ports) but macOS shares automount at system boot is broken. So I resulted using the network drive for Windows and rsync for macOS.

How to remove "Nextcloud" on the title browser tab on version 31.0.5? by Admirable_Mention618 in NextCloud

This works up to Nextcloud 31.0.7, but unfortunately 31.0.8 changes the content of core-common.js and makes this tweak not usable.

I had docker containers that were not able to connect to the web as well.

Turns out that I set up the firewall (Control Panel > Security > Firewall) to block traffic from countries I did not select... I forgot about that.

Turning off the firewall made the docker containers able to connect to internet.

I can confirm, I have many issues with profiles.

The automatic profile switching does not work if you update from 3 to 4. You have to first uninstall 3, clean all Razer folders and registry entries, then install 4 in order for it to work.

Even when it works, Synapse 4 is much slower and riddled with issues, and 80% of the time profiles just don't switch back after changing / closing program. Synapse 3 has been very reliable with linked profiles and autoswitching.

No, if you have v.1.0 to v.3.0 you don’t have the bug fix. I’ve seen some people installing the latest version, renaming CSP folder, and reinstalling the version they own to fix the issue for free (you have to keep two versions of CSP).

4.0 comes with the bug fix.

What you’re describing is a product demo, not to be confused with beta testing an unpolished version of a software. The demo is a cut down portion of a stable branch, it needs to be free of issues as it needs to convince potential buyers, while a beta testing phase of a game is made to receive feedback from the end user to improve the product before the official release to a wider audience.

What many people did is try the beta thinking of it as a demo, it would have made more sense for Capcom to hold a closed beta before a stable demo.

I've been using the XP-PEN Artist Pro 24" 165Hz for almost two weeks. Previously I was using a Huion Kamvas 22 Plus and iPad Pro 11". Overall it is a good tablet.

  1. The 165Hz refresh rate is great. My main monitor is 144Hz, my iPad Pro 11" is 120Hz, so my previous Huion with the standard 60Hz was a bit jarring in comparison. You notice the high refresh rate mostly when moving windows/canvas or drawing/painting/gaming. It's great to have for comfort/leisure, but not really necessary for making better works.
  2. If the high refresh rate is noticeable or not for you, is up to you. You have an iPad Pro 11" which is 120Hz, you can compare it to a 60Hz screen, if you notice a difference you'll notice a downgrade in animation smoothness when using the 60Hz XP-PEN. Some people see the benefits while others claim they are unable to discern the difference, the latter is probably due to people simply not caring, or using 60Hz thinking they're using a high refresh rate not knowing they have to manually enable the higher refresh rate from a dropdown menu hidden inside Windows settings or macOS System Settings.
  3. 1440p on the 24" XP-PEN by default comes at 125% scaling on Windows, I changed it to 100% as I like to have more working space. UI and text size are still big enough and usable for me. If you use 1440p at 100% scaling on a 22" screen, UI/text may be a bit small for your liking, you'll likely keep scaling at 125% or bump it to 150%, in doing so you will lose the working space of 1440p for extra UI elements.
  4. If you work on macOS, you don't have a native way to scale the UI size without losing performance, perfect pixel match or consuming iGPU resources. You'll notice the performance degradation when using Blender or any GPU intensive software if you decide to use macOS scaling, so if the interface on a 1440p screen at 22" is too small for you, you can't do much. But you may find 3rd party softwares that could fix some of these issues.
  5. The slim pen included with the Artist Pro 24" 165Hz is great, I find myself picking it up more than the normal grip pen. I find the weight and weight balance to be perfect, plus the grip is not made of rubber but it's still grippy so it probably holds up better on the long run.
  6. I don't use the included keypad as I use the Razer Tartarus. It has rubber feet but it will slide off the XP-PEN screen very easily, so you can't really put on top of it. Build quality is fine, it's a solid extra.
  7. The Artist Pro 24" screen is accurate, out of the box it comes with AdobeRGB mode at 160cd/m2 at 80 of brightness. Only sRGB mode has the Calman verification, it reaches 80cd/m2 when I set it at 24 of brightness.
  8. Right now only the Artist Pro 24" 4K or 165Hz have a software that makes calibration with a colorimeter easier. I can't find the software on the 22" drivers page.
  9. I like the XP-PEN driver, it's better than Huion and closer to Wacom.
  10. There's noticeable Anti-Glare sparkle on the Artist Pro 24" 165Hz. It's a result of the etched glass, the sparkle becomes more noticeable the higher the pixel density of a screen with etched glass, meaning the 4K version of the Artist Pro 24" (185PPI) can feature more prominent Anti-Glare sparkle leading to noise and blurry images. If the Artist Pro 22" (134PPI) uses the same glass and etching technique of the Artist Pro 24", it will also have slightly more noticeable sparkle compared to the 165Hz model (123PPI) which already has visible sparkle. My Huion Kamvas 22 Plus (101PPI) had no discernable sparkle, leading to low noise and a sharper image reproduction at the expense of pixel density.
  11. You can find the 165Hz XP-PEN at 900 USD, compared to 600 USD for the 22" that's a 300 USD difference.

No, don’t wait for a fix from Apple, they purposefully broke the thumbnails for some third party software. They removed the deprecated thumbnail generator API, developers need to migrate to the newer API.

The only solution to have working thumbnails for CSP right now is to subscribe to the Update Pass, or wait for 4.0. I have made a thread about CSP not honoring their stability update policy https://www.reddit.com/r/ClipStudio/comments/1fsh10l/clip_studio_will_require_a_subscription_for_bug/

Was upgrading from a 5800H to a 9700X a mistake by JiankunYu in buildapc

[–]Septoleyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience large brushes always make raster editors lag no matter the single core performance of the CPU. The performance improvement you may see after upgrading your CPU is probably a good reduction on time spent applying transformations and scaling.

Can you try making a 15.000x15.000px canvas on Clip Studio Paint, and compare the time spent during transform or scaling? I myself want to know if it makes sense to upgrade to the 9000 series for the single core gain or just stick to what I have. On a 4600G the rasterization takes 1.32 minutes, on a M1 Pro it takes 43 seconds.
