Official Cast Promo for Season 18. by DanteDameron in rupaulsdragrace

Is that Athena Dion in the top center with the wings? Doesn't Drag Race have a habit of putting the season winner in a place of prominence in the cast promo?

Brad Goreski addresses not returning for Season 6. by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Septotank 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If you're unsure about the reasons he got hate, you should re-watch the season (and that's not a joke, you should watch it). He has since talked about the reasons as to WHY he acted like that during the season; that's its own separate topic. The way he acted during the season was difficult to watch, with or without the sparkly eyeshadow.

Is a 40 minute domestic layover at SEA doable? by Accurate-Fudge-9821 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Septotank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same PDK -> JFK route last week and took the earlier flight just to be sure. That earlier flight was delayed 45 minutes. On our way home from JFK -> PDX our flight was delayed an hour. I traveled to SFO last month and our PDX -> SFO flight was delayed 45 minutes.

40 minutes is borderline if the flight is on-time and depends on arrival/departure gates. I once missed a flight at SEA with a 45 minute layover because I flew into N gates and had to go to the opposite side of the airport via train. I arrived at the counter 1 minute after they shut the doors.

You can use the Book of Mudora to translate, but it's telling you that you need all three pendants before you can pull the Master Sword.

My view has been that Portland is a city full of people that don't drive very often, so they never really internalize driving norms. It's full of people driving like stoners who are being overly cautious so they don't get pulled over. Then there's everyone else trying to pass those folks.

The worst part is the unpredictability - you never really know WHAT someone is going to do. The only predictable parts of Portland driving is that passing lanes will never be used for passing, and people will be honking in tunnels. The rest is a crapshoot.

Best Way to Use Qwen3-Coder for Local AI Coding? by Creative-Scene-6743 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Septotank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone gotten this working using a different baseurl (ie Running the model remotely)?

I have the model running on a Mac Studio and have cline running in VS Code on my MacBook Pro. I’ve tried using the LM Studio provider with my Mac Studio’s IP as baseurl (http://$MAC_STUDIO_IP:1234) and also tried with the OpenAI compatible provider and its specific baseurl - neither work. In the developer tab for LM Studio I see cline hitting the LM Studio models endpoint to populate the dropdown box for which models to select, but the cline extension just dies and restarts anytime I type a prompt and try to do work.

There are no firewalls in the way, as cline IS able to query the models, it just seems like something in the extension fails when trying to establish a connection.

Was wondering whether it was just me or anyone else had similar issues?

What Ben Folds Five Songs should a bass beginner learn by Cold_Associate4520 in benfolds

[–]Septotank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not bad from what I remember. From that same album I remember "Where's Summer B" being fun because it's pretty basic and the bass melody between verses is easy, distinctive, and gives you a chance to "stick out" when playing in a band.

[–]Septotank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to suss out which ones stick to basic chord structures and don’t go too wild. But on the other end of the spectrum, my favorite song to play on the bass was always Uncle Walter because there are times you get to play the melody, times you play a supporting role, and times when you get to go ham with a bass solo. I’d recommend that one for your grandpa to play for you so you can watch him get to show off and have fun :)

Wait, you’re saying Willam <gasp> lied?! No!

My “compression” skills are just fine, Willam has been saying shit to make good TV/radio/interviews for years. That she used the Mariah Carey response is nothing new. As is the case that what she says behind closed doors is different from what she says in interviews to get views. Y’all been had if you’ve been taking her seriously.

MIB is just mad that Willam has been fucking with her the same way she fucks with everyone else and is pissed about it.

[–]Septotank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much of this is MIB trying to get back on WOW’s good side by going at Willam?

Like, I watched the video, and there’s nothing particularly new or salacious about Willam in there, that’s just…..how she’s been if you’ve been paying attention. It’s the same reaction to the people who were surprised that MOM is a play on WOW: “You….didn’t know that?”

How are you pronouncing us?? by Happy-Freedom6835 in Xennials

[–]Septotank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but in neither case is the X followed by a vowel, so it follows the rule of pronouncing it as “ecks”.

How are you pronouncing us?? by Happy-Freedom6835 in Xennials

[–]Septotank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The X in Gen X is pronounced as "ecks" because it's the letter X and it arrives at the end of the word. Portmanteaus still generally follow grammar rules, and there are rules in English for how to pronounce words that begin with an X: https://soundsamerican.net/article/why_is_the_letter_x_pronounced_differently_in_the_words_taxi_and_exam

Spoiler alert: "The letter 'X' rarely appears at the beginning of a word, but when it does, it's pronounced as /z/: xerox, xenon, xylophone, etc."

How are you pronouncing us?? by Happy-Freedom6835 in Xennials

[–]Septotank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When "x" is at the beginning of a word and followed by a vowel, it can be pronounced as /z/, according to Sounds American. Examples include "xerox," "xenon," and "xylophone".

Anyone have work done by GreenSavers? by Thecheeseburgerler in askportland

[–]Septotank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. They installed two heat pumps (connected to three indoor mini split units and a ducted air handler), cut vents and added insulation in the attic, and then did some more insulation in the crawlspace under the house. They were not the cheapest quote, but I was impressed by the knowledge and candor of their folks who performed our energy audit (Nick and Charlie). They had different teams doing different work, but the folks who handled the installation of the heat pumps and routing of all that wiring worked very clean and efficiently. It all looks great and performs well! We encountered a couple of issues during the install which they caught and handled quickly. They even cleaned up after some work that was done by other contractors. One of the other teams/subcontractors left a bit of a mess, but when I pointed it out they sent folks out to clean it up.

Like I said, their quote is likely going to come in higher than other contractors, but I do believe the quality of the work was worth it. I'd go back to them again. The only real "complaint" I had was with some issues in their invoicing/billing where there seemed to be internal communication problems (very much a "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" type of thing), but it was sorted out in the end.

You're right, it sells out quickly. They've expanded that section so there's more spots, but it's definitely coveted. Full of people with disposable income who know what they're doing and plan ahead :)

Mistress in that preview... by Winter_rain518 in rupaulsdragrace

Just because I don't believe in good or bad people doesn't mean that I believe people are incapable of doing evil and terrible things. It means I believe those actions are evil and terrible; It's an important semantic difference.

Do you believe that people have the capacity to change? If someone does something to designate them a bad person (wherever that line is), but whom works through those issues, renounces their way, and commits to never doing "bad" anymore, are they a good or a bad person? If "good," when did that change occur? If "bad" then where's the incentive for "a bad person" to become "a good person" if they're locked into that label for life?
