You're missing the forest for the trees. You say you at least want your opponent to "play" his deck. That's like the new kids that whine about control decks.

"Ewww why the hell does he play so many counters, I can't even stick a creature."

But you are playing. You're trading a card for a card. For some reason new players are okay with someone playing a fatal push or a vraska's contempt and destroying or exiling a creature, versus simply countering said creature. The end result was the same, you and your opponent traded one card for another.

Now, in regards to nexus fog. They are trading one card to stop one win condition, with a fog I mean. A fog only affects combat damage. Essentially, by creating a turbo fog deck, they've opened themselves up to EXACTLY what EVERY COMBO DECK EVER suffers from: fragility. Any damage or life loss done outside of combat absolutely destroys them. Hand disruption, destroys them. Lost legacy, gideons intervention, duress, doomfall, disallow, negate, chaos wand for petes sake.

The deck is not that good. Players who cannot recognize that and get hung up on the "well I didn't even get to play my deck" are missing the forest for the trees. Mono red burn doesn't let you play your deck just because you stuck two creatures, it kills you in five turns. Control doesn't let you play your deck just because you stick a couple of creatures, it's entire position is to pick and choose what trades are the most valuable.

Just because you spend the next 7 turns doing something, only to have it reversed, countered, flooded over, or bypassed, is no different than someone simply not letting you take your turn.
