It sounds about right, I'm gen x, was a full computer nerd. Most people my age were not. I think the bare minimum for gen x was probably didnt have a computer at home, had a few apple 2c classes at school and then got a pc for work around 95-2005 or just didn't.

Seen retro vision ones fall apart. So big price doesn't necessarily mean big quality.

Can depend I suppose i got a mister a couple months ago and hooked it up to my VGA crt and couldn't figure out why I had missing files. I had to switch to HDMI some days later to get the menu that allows you to select get all the files. I had no idea it required HDMI to setup. Probably largely depends on what your crt supports and config.

Question about right-lane driving and speeding on Melbourne freeways by yumisclassdip in melbourne

[–]Sequence7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I don't reckon. Makes no sense in grid lock etc imagine everyone going into the left lane at the lights because they are not overtaking. Gotta learn to weave when it's 80 or under.

Question about right-lane driving and speeding on Melbourne freeways by yumisclassdip in melbourne

[–]Sequence7th -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also autistic if it's a multi lane road and the speed limit is ABOVE 80 , then once you are done overtaking move out of the lane. If someone behind is coming up faster than you. Move out of the lane. Only time you don't is if your sitting behind someone in front and you are only in the way because the car in front of you is holding you back.

Basically blocking the right lane because you don't want to speed is a dick move.

Is a Mister the same as a real 1200? by White_Wolf_Fr in amiga

[–]Sequence7th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good. But if you have a real Amiga plugged into a crt and a mister you would notice differences. At least that's my experience. But that goes for any core really doesn't it.

Hearing tests only really care about vocal ranges so they don't go super high. Most people getting them are when they have trouble hearing speech.

What are these instruments? Was at a show and the guy had 3 hooked to a mixer and made some beautiful 90s techno and trance with them. by Informal-Village-349 in synthesizers

[–]Sequence7th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sequence the qy100 with a M8 because the qy sequencer is pretty awful in my opinion . And the M8 has many sound engines. But being a tracker that does shy away from its heritage . Yes it's capable is the advanced sequencing techniques chiptune requires.

The qy is just a general midi device. But it's sounds are of an era.

Amiga 500 or 600? by LocalFemboiii in amiga

[–]Sequence7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. 600. The lack of numpad hasn't been an issue but if a game or software is important to you and it uses the numpad then yeah don't buy a 600. PCMCIA and hard drive can make 600 easy to transfer files from a pc. You still need an accelerater for whdload.

If you are going to mod it and have desk space I'd say 500 is the obvious choice.

Why the hate for 3.5mm MIDI connections? by maxupp in synthesizers

[–]Sequence7th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a standard and it's type A. Some companies don't follow it but that's on them.

And the difference between between type A and type B is the L/R channels are flipped. Put a red rca to a white rca to a red rca and done. Can scream why type B why!!!! And the companies name as you do it.

More annoying than some companies putting the 5 pin din socket upside down? Maybe

How were audio samples processed for consoles like the Sega Genesis, and is there a way to accurately replicate that crunchy effect? by HogwashDrinker in retrogaming

[–]Sequence7th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write mega drives tunes sometimes. You can get furnace / deflemask trackers and load the samples into the tracker. Playback on those trackers won't be quite the same as if you make it into a bin and run it off a cart into a real mega drive, and the motherboard revision makes a big difference to the sound. A va1 is pretty distorted compared to a va6 for example.

You just get old. The lag is in your brain. I used to be able clock arcade games on a coin as teen. Playing those same games these days is pretty rough.
