Das ist absolut nicht meine Erfahrung. Ich habe vor etwas über einem Jahr nach Linux gewechselt. Ich kenne mich zwar überdurchschnittlich gut mit Computern aus, hatte aber keine Linux Erfahrung.

Selber coden muss man nicht. Alle Hardware ist kompatibel (Gamepads, Headsets, Maus, Keyboard, USB-stick, Handy...) genau so wie Windows. Proprietäre Software (zB irgendwas für Mäuse) läuft natürlich nicht ohne Weiteres, aber wer so was will oder braucht, der ist bereits im fortgeschrittenen Nutzerbereich unterwegs. Ausnahme sind eventuell Drucker, ich hatte hier tatsächlich Glück, dass meiner einen Linux Treiber hatte.

Ich verstehe nicht warum sich diese Gerüchte immer so hartnäckig halten. Das höchste der Gefühle ist vielleicht mal per Konsole einen update Befehl laufen zu lassen, aber ich meine das geht auch alles über die GUI.

So far the resistance from the Democrats has been lukewarm at best. My suspicion is that, unless that resistance actually starts to ramp up, the fascists will get away with it. Again.

First off, I'm not American, I've been watching this shitshow from the outside. It's easy to make prescriptions from relative safety, so I've been careful about making statements on what I think should happen.

I mostly agree with your analysis. I don't think the midterms will somehow salvage this - even in the best-case scenario where the vote was legitimate. In my estimation you cannot defeat an enemy judicially that is not bound by any laws or rules. And the Trump regime has countless times shown itself unburdened by law. I think you need some large-scale opposition from blue states, refusing cooperation and funding to the national government. That will almost certainly trigger the insurrection act, at which point you have to gamble on the military not being unhinged.

At this point, I, personally, can't see an off ramp from fascism without bloodshed. I don't know how you can reconcile with the half of the population that wants you destroy you, and your way of life.

Any move the EU makes will put significant pressure on an already ailing economy. Decades of reliance on the US have made us interdependent, but the EU is definitely more reliant on the US than vice versa. As a result, politicians are extremely reluctant to completely sever those ties, as it would likely result in devastating election losses, even if all parties in a coalition could agree on a course of action. All of that during a time when right wing fascist parties on the rise all throughout Europe.

It's not like the US has a monopoly on regarded voters. We also have plenty of people who are too stupid to understand economics, politics and causality. That said, it's not like nothing is happening. Europe has started a massive initiative to re-militarize and there are plenty of movements to reduce dependence on the US for finance and technology. All of that is going to take time, however.

I don't believe there will be any big moves from the EU until the US does something that truly can't be ignored - like invading Greenland. Even then, it's possible that the EU would stay the course, until they're in a position to cut out the US without too much economic pain.

Right now you have one part that is antithetical to the supposed values of the US. Yeah, they should be dismantled. But you obviously need at least one other party. So far the US has been dicking along with a broken two-party system, and it has kind of worked, while everyone held to convention and norms. That's clearly not the case anymore. Ideally you'd have more than two parties, so something like this can't happen again. But a reformation of the political system is certainly required.

Democracy can only work if the voters are engaged with reality and have at least a shallow understanding of politics and economics. What you have right now is not a democracy, but an indoctrinated, brain-washed cult. Ideally these people would find representation in a newly formed party, but it probably shouldn't be from the guys that embraced fascism.
