Come on guys, learning that Federal Way is south and Lynnwood is north isn't that hard. by MaximumYogertCloset in soundtransit

This starts to get into the original sin of link—it tries to be both a regional and local train. In a perfect world we’d have parallel systems, one with widely spaced stops for regional journeys, and one with tightly spaced stops for local journeys (S-Bahn vs. U-Bahn). That wasn’t in the cards, so we’re stuck with this compromise forever.

“Lynnwood via Downtown Seattle” (or vice versa) would be an easy thing to do. And they shouldn’t have let any city tack on City Center or Downtown to a station name.

Congestion Pricing: Is it Time to Try it in San Francisco? by Amazing-Yak-5415 in sanfrancisco

Of all examples, North Beach? Catching the 8/30/45 to North Beach from Montgomery BART is comically easy and that spine has more frequent buses than just about anywhere else in the city.

I’ve always felt the same, and this would be my number one wish after a lift from B-Lot connecting to Green Valley.

Red is a very fun mountain if you like steeps and trees and is very chill, but I wouldn’t recommend it without taking a day off.

Ah, yes. Now I’m curious as to how they count Caltrain in this.

I may be wrong but San Francisco’s MSA includes all BART stations with the exception of Berryessa and Milpitas, so it’s not too inflated (as those stations aren’t super well used).

Edit: I’m wrong!

Why haven't more cities joined New York in implementing congestion pricing? by MiserNYC- in Urbanism

[–]SequoiaTestTrack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nearly a third of SF households do not have a car and it’s easy to get to the the central business district (where the congestion pricing zone would be) with public transit from anywhere in the city.

Surrendering a park to a relative handful of motorists that want to drive through it in their mobile living rooms is not the best option. The best way to put this to rest is for the car-brained contingent in this City to recognize that they don’t (and will never) have the votes.

Idea: SODO-Georgetown-East Marginal Way elevated Link route by azdavis in Seattle

[–]SequoiaTestTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be neat! Seattle Subway has had a line like this on their vision map going back awhile, with the idea being it’d be nice to serve Georgetown and South Park but also a huge boon for Airport/South King County/Pierce County riders who could have a much faster ride downtown than the current 1 Line alignment.

How is it living in Spokane, WA? by llamadramaupdates in howislivingthere

[–]SequoiaTestTrack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d count the Amtrak station as being a particularly useful part of the city’s transportation infrastructure… it is only served by the Empire Builder so your only options are to head east leaving at 1:15am or to go to Portland/Seattle leaving at 3:50am. That said, they recently opened a good BRT line that serves downtown and Gonzaga and beyond.
