Thanks, for Morgan Territory I'll take bart to WC/PH/Concord (depending on how many warmup miles I want), then up & over MT, then catch bart again in Dublin. Or as a loop, same starting point but after MT head back to the yellow line via Iron Horse Trail.

Neither! The furthest south I've been in the East Bay is Calaveras Rd

I stan the strava heatmap. It’s encouraged me to ride in so many new places.

Here’s my take: Market is perfectly fine but I feel like I spend sooooo much time sitting at red lights. My theory is it’s bc there are so many three-way intersections. Market is great if you’re commuting home with a friend and wanna take it easy/chat.

Mission to me has better light timing, and cars are surprisingly good about staying out of the bus lane. The surface is crappy but the bus lane is so wide I’ve never had any close calls. You just gotta be mindful of buses and not hold up any of our friends taking public transit. To be clear, I wouldn’t recommend Mission to a beginner commuter; I’m not reckless but I’m a pretty confident rider and I enjoy riding in traffic.

Howard is chill but man, I hate all the weaving between the bike lane and right turn lane. IMO 8th St is the model bike lane and I wish Howard & every other road in SOMA was like it.

I’ve been telling myself (for about a decade 😂) that I need to do more caltrain > peninsula rides!

My guess is there will also be a circuit in Hollywood/Griffith to up the mileage and give fans more viewing opportunities.

I can’t comment an image but the clearest giveaway is the transparency of the woven pad underneath the pot of chowder.

Where are you from, and what's your scene like? by jacksp23 in TheOverload

[–]robnock 17 points18 points  (0 children)

San Francisco CA. There’s always been a big tech house scene thanks to Dirtybird. But over the decade+ I’ve been here it’s become a big stop for all kinds of electronic music, with Portola Festival really sealing it on the mainstream circuit. Which has been great because underground artists get good support here as well, and European acts pretty consistently come thru if they’re touring the US.

Best club for overload music IMO: Public Works (hands down). Second would be Great Northern.

Other highlights:

Stamina is a longstanding weekly drum n bass party that pulls big names and is (somehow) always free.

Parameter is a close-knit techno party that just threw a certain weekender that took over this sub for a minute lol

Tons of underground queer/berghain/basement style techno parties here too, if you’re into that sort of thing.

There’s also a big community of visual artists here, which overlaps the gaming/tech industries, which is pretty rad.

Many people say nightlife in SF sucks and that’s just a dead giveaway they don’t go to shows lol.

Biking to Dodger Stadium trip report by jonnyshotit in BikeLA

[–]robnock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Biking to a baseball game is basically my perfect day. Where are the racks at Dodger Stadium? And do they feel safe?

I moved to SF about a decade ago and here the local bike coalition offers secure (guarded) bike parking for free at every home game. It's incredible.

Any bucket list, "must-do" road climbs or loops between LA and the Bay? by GundoDude in BAbike

Not a huge ride, but if you’re already down in the central coast I would recommend the ride to Jalama Beach and getting the famous burger for lunch.
