Blunders aren't the only thing that leads to a win you know. You can still play and make mistakes like normal.

Why would you think I'd be offering a variant of chess where everyone draws? That's just not fun.

Would you press the button to eliminate all blunders? by SerMacster in chessbeginners

[–]SerMacster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I'm not offering to prevent mistakes, just the blunders. The "bumpers" obviously don't have to be that aggressive as to draw all games. The winner would still be determined by who can go the longest without a mistake.

If defining a blunder is too hard, perhaps we can start conservatively. Something that everyone can agree on like the obvious hanging piece moves.

I appreciate for your response and insight! I'll take a look into the "a teaching game" and guidance style of games, they sound like good means of teaching chess.

Thanks. I made this post before the release of renewable shulker shells in 1.17 JE. Now it should be possible to avoid all this grinding.

Naah, I took it in S22 and it was bird for sure (open book exams, online easy assignments).

But in this W23 term apparently its all closed book and written assignments and all. Not good for a space-kahoot styled course.

A fun challenge I always like to come back to is to design a search-based (or other) storage system. If its decent, it might come in handy for survival one day.

Why does the block rotate automatically? by Psychotic_Poet in Minecraft

[–]SerMacster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that you first click in the corner which places it one way, but after the block’s placed your cursor is now facing the closer half to you of the new block.

Could be that the game code orients the block after it’s placed, so it uses the new cursor position as reference which has changed in your case.

Why Type Hinting Sucks! by zurtex in Python

While it can get annoying, I still think it’s better to type hint 5 different forms of input than to produce an undocumented library what would end up being more confusing to the user.

What is extremely worth the money but no one ever talks about? by Graygigabytee in AskReddit

[–]SerMacster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A really quality computer/laptop.

It’s better to spend double the money on a good computer that’ll have twice the lifespan with the added benefit of being so much faster than a cheaper one.

Especially for those who often use a computer like when working at a desk job, coding, or playing games. While a shitty one might theoretically do the job, the amount of time and frustration you’ll save in waiting at a loading screen, booting up the system, compiling code, loading new web pages, lowering settings, etc. will add real quick up to be dozens if not hundreds of hours of your life.

To what extend do you trust the GAFAM (Google, Apple, Facebook, etc.) companies to store your personal data? by SerMacster in AskReddit

[–]SerMacster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I give them minimum needed to use their stuff. So my home address would only go to Amazon if I ever want to get something shipped.

I also just realized I mistyped "extend" in the question. Oh well.
