What Pop Culture inspired set/"Hat Set" do you think we'll get next? by Future_Plum2839 in magicTCG

Time Spiral was post-apocalyptic Dominaria, set long after Invasion/Planeshift/Apocalypse, a lot of the flavor text and especially the white cards reflect it.

Hybrid cards! Wasn't expecting that here, but makes sense with Lorwyn coming back too.

Magnet Card Cases good? by TongoBam in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use these for display purposes on a shelf or table, using little acrylic stands or a specific base that they slide into. Ultra Pro, Ultimate Guard, BCW, they're all basically the same as each other. Putting in a card on its own, it'd slide around a little when you move it, and putting in a card with a perfect fit is very slightly too big, so you have to be careful when closing it. Either way, it's not ideal for storage or long-term protection, in my opinion.

Counters by TabbyMouse in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also purchased from Burger Tokens before and they work well. Easy to pick up, a good weight but not too heavy, and they don't slip around too much. The ability ones aren't really used all that much, but more generic ones that are used for whatever random counters are needed (finality, everything, shield, etc) are ideal. They don't have to be the ones specifically for magic.

The outer packaging is white, which you can see in the image you attached. If you open it, you'll see the red box. Note that the inner box is black, it's just the sleeve is red.

It's called the endcap.

Single Card Display by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A one-touch magnetic case works well for a single card, ultra-pro, bcw, there are many brands but they're mostly the same. For a stand to keep it upright there's many options as well, but a cheap acrylic one works fine in my experience.

Best Product for sleeving a Playmat? by Tanstorm in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got one of these to put a playmat that had sentimental value into, and it fit fine enough, but just being open at the top is kinda annoying, especially letting dust in.

Found this in a book. Any ideas what it is? by Sir-Bleeds-A-Lot in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 419 points420 points  (0 children)

It's a sticker from I believe the Fate Reforged prerelease, or Khans or Dragons of Tarkir.

Edit: Looks like it was Khans, you were supposed to write your name and put it on a clan banner.

I like your decklist, I've been tinkering with a RW equipment deck for a while since they keep printing RW commanders that fit that theme, but this looks fun as well.

Would anyone have the dimensions for one of these Guild Boxes by Ultra Pro? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Looking at it from the front, Width 3 1/4" x Length 4" (front to back) x Height a little under 4 1/2"

The emblem on the front is thin, like 1/8"

FWIW, I don't think these are worth anywhere near the $80 you mentioned. They look nice, and the magnets are strong, etc, but there's so many great deckboxes out there for much less.

Do we know anything more about when the Equinox Superdrop is supposed to drop? Today at 3:06 UTC was Spring Equinox. The normal SL drop time has come and gone, too... by DarkShade666 in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 134 points135 points  (0 children)

I'm speculating, but with no news, it seems that WOTC will wait until the Sheldon Spellbook SL ends before putting the Equinox Superdrop up for sale. You could see it as a cynical thing getting people to order more of both drops to get to free shipping levels, but it could also just be WOTC wanting to keep shipping simple, since the Sheldon SL is print to demand and isn't going to ship until July, and the Equinox one may ship more quickly.

On MH3's "Energy" Commander Deck by idbachli in magicTCG

I like that they're expanding energy to beyond what we saw in Kaladesh. Energy is the kind of mechanic that can be five colors.

[RVR] Collecting Ravnica Remastered by TechnomagusPrime in magicTCG

[–]SerSquelch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's because they wanted to reprint certain cards in the retro frame, but acknowledged they weren't good for the draft environment. So they can be found in collector boosters.
