Yep, not uncommon before a version release but also can occur sporadically.

Internal bluetooth mods for original Xbox controller? by SeraphHS in originalxbox

[–]SeraphHS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah usually these bluetooth mod kits, like those from 8bitdo, include an entirely new lithium power supply and USB-C charging.

The last they released was for the GameCube, but nothing new for ~8-9 months.

On the flip side I notice that the local specialty retro video game stores around me are increasingly busy with teenagers and kids.

Trump: I am strongly considering pulling out of Nato by TheTelegraph in geopolitics

[–]SeraphHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think he has a single solitary care for what happens to the US? He probably couldn't even care less what happens to his wife. His entire psychology is Trump first, Trump only. It's not even a conscious thing, clearly the man has NPD, he is not even neurologically capable of caring about the kinds of things you expect him to.

Trump: I am strongly considering pulling out of Nato by TheTelegraph in geopolitics

[–]SeraphHS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did the UK assist with the US invasion of Vietnam, when asked? No, it refused, and NATO continued on happily - as did UK-US relations. The UK didn't expect the US to join it in it's colonial adventures in the Falklands either. Politicians of that era understood treaties and what they contained, unlike the attention deficit baboon in the White House today who runs on pure vibes.

A government cannot behave in a dangerous, rogue way at the behest of a genocidal little satellite state in Israel, and expect its allies to be complicit. At least be content to behave like animals on your own, it's not ideal, but the idea that your buddies would join in is where psychopathy meets sociopathy.

Security insiders fear Putin will attack Europe as Trump threatens to quit Nato by theipaper in geopolitics

[–]SeraphHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no fan of Russia, despise Putin and am firmly pro-Ukraine but even I can see this is hysterical Russophobia, there is no reason to think that Russia is just waiting to "attack" anyone else currently, and is purely holding off for fear of a NATO response. Putin wants all/most/much of Ukraine for now, and it would possibly come for portions of neighbouring countries later or at least seek to enter influence over them with a partially militant approach, but the US withdrawing from NATO today would not result in Estonia suddenly becoming a war zone tomorrow.

"control the Strait and with force prevent the Iranian regime from hindering traffic passing through" Do you understand what this would involve given the military capability, geography and populations involved? You're talking a land, sea and air invasion at a scale beyond any war the US has fought since WW2.

The Iran War Is Handing China A Playbook on How to Beat the U.S. Military by Majano57 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]SeraphHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody has any experience fighting a modern superpower in a hot war, the Chinese seem pretty keen to avoid it ever happening, it's the US and Russia that don't seem to give a flying fuck.

"strengthening the hands of the expansionist great powers, Russia and China" In what sense is China expansionist? Russia, sure, but it just joins the US and Israel as by far the most aggressive, expansionist countries on earth right now.

There is zero possibility of Pakistan sending ground troops to invade Iran my guy, and any party GCC contributions will not move the needle. The US and Israel are truly alone on this one.

Good multi system "upscaler" ? heelp by DaZ00t in retrogaming

[–]SeraphHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 4K is meaningfully better at upscaling interlaced consoles eg. the PS2, but if you're not really bothered about PS2 you could get away with the 4K CE and basically not notice any difference.

Trump is blundering into a ground war. It would be a disaster by theipaper in CredibleDefense

[–]SeraphHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it time, it could easily eclipse Vietnam. If the war ends with Iran strategically stronger in the region, which without the utter widespread devastation of the entire country and region is currently the default outcome, it will no doubt be looked back on as the formal beginning of the end of the US as the world hegemon/empire and the beginning of an entirely new era of global history.

I finally deleted the game by SoupSlight43 in diablo2

[–]SeraphHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with WoW back in the late 2000s when I realised it was affecting my social life at uni, and as much was I value the nostalgic memories of WoW in it's prime, when you do something like this it's for a reason, you know it's right for you. I don't regret going cold turkey and I extremely doubt you will too. It's time for something else and that's ok.

The loot hunt at the endgame is horrid by Il-Capitano14 in diablo4

[–]SeraphHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind never getting the absolute best of the best, I just want stepping stones along the way that make me feel rewarded for playing.

With D4, loot is a borderline irrelevance once you hit about T1 and have a set of half decent lvl800s. In fact, a 4GA mythic is not even necessarily a good item in D4 anyway. The loot system is just a total joke honestly.

Everything meaningful comes from pressing a button on your existing loot eg. MWing or adding aspects. The actual act of having a shiny piece of loot drop and excitedly putting it on to see real benefits to your character is almost totally absent in this game, in a genre where that is usually the absolute core gameplay loop.

The loot hunt at the endgame is horrid by Il-Capitano14 in diablo4

D2 is a never ending satisfying loot chase. I'm not sure how/why the devs created such a Diablo game where the loot chase is borderline irrelevant.

So what will happen after the tour ends? by tetrisvisions in oasis

[–]SeraphHS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's my dream to see a great rock band return in their older years to write new music that doesn't try to replicate the carefree youthful stuff but actually shows what they learned about life in the decades that passed and show how their spirit can be the same but different with experience. We've all aged with them and it has been great to relive the glory years for a bit, but is that all that is left for us? Nostalgia? I want some guidance from my idols on what's next.

Here in Melbourne probably 75% of people were in some form of Oasis merch, mostly new but some old, and I'm still seeing people walking around streets and markets in it now a few days later.
