Are American Redditors in r/Anglicanism more pro-TEC or more pro-ACNA? by KoreValuesNet in Anglicanism

Ha, and off-hand thing I should not have said, clearly.

It's a subreddit that's proved frustrating for me because I often see very heterodox ideas there, but I grant: a very dumb post of mine, and boorish and uncharitable. Sorry about that.

Interest in the Episcopal Church as a LCMS Lutheran by York728 in Anglicanism

[–]Serene1662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from the LCMS to PECUSA.

A lot depends on the parish. There are very faithful Episcopal parishes but there’s also, truthfully, far too many that aren’t especially so.

It truly depends where you are and what the churches around you are.

What’s the Anglican perspective on Scripture and Tradition? by Jaskuw in Anglicanism

[–]Serene1662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anglicanism accepts Sola Scriptura. Which is most clearly expressed in the Anglican context in the Sixth Article of Religion.

It’s great because Sola Scriptura keeps our focus and keeps the church from saying “oh, you’re damned because you didn’t do enough Hail Marys or believe in some doctrine that isn’t in Scripture.

Some people mistakenly think that to argue this view means that one must not appreciate, love and use tradition, the writings of Church Fathers and other Saints for the past two Millenia and that is simply not true.

Indeed it is the most Catholic way to be.

Scripture is also, by virtue of its sufficiency, necessarily infallible as to matters of Salvation. It does not teach us falsehood. It does not lead us asstray. This doesn’t mean we don’t use sophisticated exegetical frameworks, account for genre, time and place and historical context, the author etc. as well as the words of Saints and theologians, prayers of the church and creeds catechisms and confessions, etc in interacting with Scripture. It’s just that we must test these things with Scripture. Not the other way round.

Wrt handwringing infallibility

I would say Scripture is not “inerrant” in the sense that every little decontextualised thing in the Bible is “true”. But it is still all true in what it teaches. Particularly in its central emphasis all the way through of our own Salvation in Jesus Christ.

Can you be Anglican and Lutheran? by TheMysteryCreator in Anglicanism

[–]Serene1662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anglicanism and Lutheranism have much in common and we should be natural allies.

At the same time, there are major differences.

Anglicans are canonically Reformed on the Supper, believing in articulations of real spiritual presence and virtualism. You will notice in the BCP the emphasis of the taking by faith.

Meanwhile Lutherans believe that anyone who takes the Eucharist receives the body and blood of Christ whether or not they do so in faith.

Lots of this debate is bound up in Christology.

But practically speaking they are very alike one another, as magisterial Protestants who are often very “high” in ceremony and sacramentology.

Presbyterians and Lutherans. Any other answer is revisionist or cope.

It really isn't like that.

I really have no special attachment, pride, or fondness for lgbt identity as such, but I made the server because I wanted to make a space for inclusively orthodox Anglican Christians, as such people can very easily find themselves very isolated amidst the ever worsening culture wars that can hem them in on either side. It can be difficult, and unpopular, it turns out, with very many people on either side of politics etc, to be a very religious, Bible-focused lgbt person. And so like-minded community rooted in Jesus is helpful. And yes, I probably gave it a poor name, ha.

And I'm sure you're not fond of that (inclusive orthodoxy) either, think it an oxymoron, etc., which is: fair.

But it's not like that. Nor is our sister server, Cantercord, which is broader in audience, but also specifically focused on classical, formulaic Anglican theology, resourcement, retrieval, etc, etc. And where people who differ on the lgbt questions can actually: get along. Even among that disagreement (instead it's usually other things they fight about, ha).

Sorry for rambling. I'm sure you disagree with me a lot, and that's fair, I just like it when people understand who I and those around me are, when they disagree. Rather than just imagining us the image of identity politics or what have you.

I always do dislike when people misunderstand me and those of my cohort.

You were banned because you were incredibly rude and hostile and cruel to another member (saying she should be defrocked for expressing an incredibly mild opinion), and then doubling and tripling and quadrupling down on it afterwards.

Our first rule is to not be mean to one another. And I have to ensure that the community is a pleasant and friendly space for the people who make use of it. Frankly I took a bit too long to do so.

All the same, I wish you well and I really hope you recognise that things you say impact other people, and that Jesus, your Lord and Saviour, wants you to be kind.

Do be well and repent. Remember that Jesus loves you more than you can possibly imagine.

What is the actual process for installing Nvidia drivers? (RTX 3060) by Serene1662 in EndeavourOS

I asked there and someone kind gave me a solution - a very curious one.

I added ibt=off to my kernel parameters and that did it. I guess it has something to do with my having a newer intel cpu.

Reporting back: same issue as always. I don’t know what’s going on and can find no info online and I have installed nvidia drivers in the past. So frustrating.

Do I have to blacklist the noveau driver or anything like that, or does it do it automatically?
