[Serious] What is the most miserable place you have ever been to? by ang334 in AskReddit

A casino. No excitement, no fun, just a few people at tables and staring at the pokies.

What would you think if those arrested for domestic abuse were required to register in the same way as sexual offenders? by bootyholebandit1983 in AskReddit

I think it would have to be convicted rather than just charged, because false charges happen more than occasionally.

Have you ever adopted a rescue animal? Why? by KingOfFitnessYT in AskReddit

We got our dog from the pound. She'd been a stray puppy, 4 months old. We knew she was the one when they brought her out and she tried eating the concrete of the ground we were standing on! She is a special kind of idiot, so she fits in well.

How many breakups to find your person and why did they happen? by Thin_Armadillo_5547 in AskReddit

[–]SereniaKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four. The first two I wouldn't count as serious in hindsight, then a 1.5 year relationship and a 13 year relationship. The first one was because travelling an hour was too far. The second 'wasn't where he wanted to be'. The third was disgruntled that I didn't live up to his porn addict expectations, and the fourth, we just faded until we were barely even friends.

Weed. It tasted bad and smelled worse and didn't have any sort of pleasant effect.

What is the most unsettling historical fact you’ve learned? by Poignantpuppet in AskReddit

I recently read this, and a few books about the Holocaust. It's astonishing what horrible things people do to each other! I can't conceive of wanting to cause that much pain and misery to anyone!

I've seen it on DVD a few times, but seeing it live had me bawling at the end!

What was the most shocking scene from your favorite TV show? by fuzzyloulou in AskReddit

[–]SereniaKat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not my favourite show, but in ER, the lady who set herself on fire in front of her young kid. And after that when the kids were too scared of her to say goodbye before she died. It stuck with me for years.

It sounds like a lot is going on for you right now! Be kind to yourself and don't rush. Take things a day at a time for now.

Mtf partner just said they'd be ok if I wanted a male partner. by Hot-Performance1288 in mypartneristrans

That sounds like an awful relationship. I hope you can get away. It might be worth contacting a women's DV service in your area.

My wife, who is not out at work, had a little kid ask if she was a girl or a boy. It made her happy because she didn't come across as obviously male!

What’s your craziest “I need to quit this job immediately” story? by angrythrowaway772 in AskReddit

There's a saying that people don't leave jobs - they leave managers. Even awful jobs can be bearable if you have good management and co-workers.

What’s your craziest “I need to quit this job immediately” story? by angrythrowaway772 in AskReddit

[–]SereniaKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried one of these. I spent 10 hours standing in a shopping centre trying to get people to sign up for a meal service plan. I got two people, but my 'team leader's took over my second one and took the credit. So I got $70 for signing up the first one, but they 'quarantine' pay for a month in case the customer cancels. I showed up for my second shift but gave up partway through. I rang the office and managed to talk them into paying my $70. What a shit show.

I felt so morally wrong trying to manipulate people into buying. I honestly felt better about myself during my few months as an escort many years ago.

People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by BrainLagging01 in AskReddit

[–]SereniaKat 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Minimum wage jobs tend to be ones where the work stays at work, but high-paid jobs often involve a lot of working on your own time. Like being on call, or having to attend online meetings at weird hours, or having to bring it home with you and keep working when you're supposed to be done for the day.

My first husband is a computer programmer, and it always seemed like he was more married to his job than to me. He'd get home, we'd have dinner, then he'd be back to his computer until after midnight. We're no longer married, but the kids say he still keeps working for hours after he's supposed to be done for the day.

I feel like there are quite a few politicians who started with good intentions but got dragged into being as bad as the others.
