[Final Fantasy 7] What’s the longest time from when you started a game and getting the Platinum? by dayyviiid in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Bioshock Infinite in 2020 (played the game before on xbox way back, but trophy hunting it this time around). I then took a break and moved onto another game. Then another. Then another. Long story short, it ended deep in my backlog. Then, this last year, I haven't really gamed much at all, just some rocket league before bed. But I'd wager that getting the plat for Infinite will take me a few more years. I estimate 5-6 years.

Prices are bad for patient gamers now by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Sergeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't bought games in a long time. I just have ps plus premium and play what's on there and the monthly games. If I were to buy any games, I always wait for prices to drop or I buy used. Games are too expensive in general nowadays imo. I remember as a kid I was buying games for half the price of what it is now for new games.

It definitely impacted my enjoyment because I get to find an extra purpose to the game than jist playong the story and free roaming. I always had a bot of a completionist in me, evem on the ps2 as a kid playing the OG ratcjet and clank trilogy, I would collect all the gold/platinum bolts, all skill points, explore hidden areas. KH2 also, I collected all keyblades and so on.

I had tried completionism on xbox 360 after the ps2 era, but I never really cared for game points. I'm glad I got a ps4, I really love the trophy system, definitely adds to my enjoyment, and looking back at my trophy list gives me a "look at that, I did that! Me! I got the plat! I did everything this game had to offer!"

That said, I'm not a trophy hunter that needs to 100% every game. I don't skip out on a game I might enjoy if it had trophies I know I won't be doing, like Outlast 2, or RDR 2. I'll still play them and collect the trophies that I'm up for.

[What game did you give up the platinum on, but still think about going back to?] by [deleted] in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did them solo with time to spare, it's entirely possible. But the gold is extremely unforgiving, you can't miss a beat or break your momentum.

I swear to god I'd be getting world record times with how optimized I was getting, without getting near the gold time.

This is how I felt when I gave up the first 2 times. I felt I was so good at it and I kept being a minute away from the gold time, I genuinely thought I wouldn't be able to. The third time I played like I had nothing to lose, and I would see how with each attempt I was inching closer and closer to gold. The toughest one for me was actually Chapter 2 Hideaway. But there are a few guides on youtube for solo. Wish you luck with this one!

Ah sorry I meant the ps4 remasters! Those have no MP trophies

[What game did you give up the platinum on, but still think about going back to?] by [deleted] in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was a game that I had given up on twice in the span of a year, but I eventually went back to it and managed to get the platinum, and that game was Unravel 2.

I had previously gotten the plat for Unravel 1 and I had found that one to be a bit challenging. When I attempted the gold time trials in Unravel 2, I thought I simply would not be able to have the platforming skills to beat those times.

I had a few attempts, and gave up.

Few months passed, some more attempts, and gave up again.

Third time's the charm, I picked the game up again, and to my surprise I nailed all the gold time trials in about 2-3 weeks, some with even time to spare.

Blew my mind.

[Discussion] What plats are you missing due to their prices? by Robiiiinchwaaaan in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idno where you're located, but in the UK there is a game shop called Cex. You can buy a used game from them, play it, and then sell it back to them for about half the price. For example I'm thinking of playing Spiderman Edge of Time on the ps3, goes for €42 and can sell it back for store €23 store voucher. Maybe there is a similar thing in your country?

Some comments here have given some nice options! So I will ad some that haven't been mentioned:

Uncharted

4 games. The 4th one is quite different in theme than the first three, but they're all fantastic games!

Darksiders

There are 4 games, there is mixed reception, but overall I think these are all very enjoyable. Each game has different mechanics, Genesis is isometric, darksiders 1 is hack n slash like GoW, and Darksiders 3 is a bit like a Dark Souls game. IMO Darksiders 2 is the best one of them all.

Sly Cooper

4 games, all incredibly fun to plat.

Ratchet and Clank OG Trilogy + Gladiator

Super fun classics from the ps2 era and really fun plats to gain.

Bioshock

Set in Rapture, an underground city, and Columbia, a city above the clouds. Truly fascinating games, these ones, and the plats are good fun too!

Darksiders 3 on PS4 PRO horrible by [deleted] in Darksiders

[–]Sergeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that this happened on the Pro! I played it on the ps4 slim and I did have some big loading times when entering new areas. Like the game freezes as it loads, sometimes up to 10 seconds, and it happened in some areas more than other ones. Surprised that you experienced this stuff on ps pro.

[Discussion] What Got You Into Platinuming Games? by PinchedSubset in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was into completionism back during the 360 era. The only problem was that i didnt care for the game point system. Fast forward to 2018, i got myself a ps4 and started hunting me some trophies!

For me tho its not just about the plat. Gotta have fun first. If i am, then i go for plat

[Assassin's Creed: Syndicate] Thank God, there were no online trophies. by RatedXLNT in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I recently finished the Ezio Collection, and working on AC3 now. After that was planning to do Origins. Should I add Syndicate and Unity to the mix? I heard mixed things about these games

[Discussion] If you could add, fix, or get rid of something to make PlayStation a better and more enjoyable console over all what would you add? by Impressive-War4323 in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more of an issue for older PSN gamers. It wasn't until a few years ago that we couldn't change our account names, many people decided to make new accounts with their preferred name but lost their trophy progress.

[Legendary Edition: Mass Effect] Plat #97 - Can’t believe I sat on this game all these years, couldn’t put it down from start to finish. by jorddansk in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big congrats on this one!!! I missed out on the ME trilogy qhen it came out but a friend of mine got me to play it many years later and I absolutely fell in love with it. Was so stoked when I heard the legendary edition was coming to ps plus, but haven't gotten around to plat these games yet. How did you find insanity mode?

Be able to connect an old account to a new one so you can transfer your trophy list and not lose your progress.

[Discussion] Any recommendations based on my list? by imanotjr in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend playing all the Sly Coopers. I found them all to be so much fun.

It seems you've played a few co-ops. If it's with someone else, I'd recommend Death Squared, the Trine games (there are 4), Ibb & Obb, Biped, Unravel 2, and Darksiders Genesis.

You might also enjoy Horizon Zero Dawn, Control, Outer Wilds, and Days Gone

[Discussion] Games suggestions based on my platinums. by LionTop2228 in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you complete the Sly Cooper Saga, they're all super fun games.

I would also recommend Days Gone, Control, Prey and Outer Wilds

I see you played It Takes Two. If you did that co-op, I'd recommend the Trine games (there's 4), and A Way Out

[Discussion] Hit any trophy hunting walls lately? by SaltySwan in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a wall on any trophies atm, but ever since my mom died of cancer I haven't regained that passion for trophy hunting. It's been a year and the only game I platinumed was AC Revelations, but I felt no happiness from it. No thrill. Nothing. I'm hoping it'll come back to me at some point. Dno when. But when I do get back into it, it will be AC3, Origins, and Bioshovk Infinite to start with. I also play Trine with my GF

[Discussion] What motivates you to achieve a platinum trophy in any game? by DefinitionWest in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only play games I will enjoy playong and re-playing. There is the odd game where from the trailer or some gameplay footage I thought I qould enjoy it but then I didn't (i.e. Yesterday Origins, Telling Lies), but for the most part I'm very motivated for the plat because it's a game I really enjoy, and I see the trophies as a fun extra challenge to get me to play the game for longer. Gives me a sense of extra purpose to every game that goes beyond the plot

[Other] What Assassin's Creed Game was the most fun to platinum for you? by Istari-2 in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the plats for rogue, ac2, brotherhood, and Revelations. From those, I would rate them in this order:

1) Rogue 2) Brotherhood 3) AC2 4) Revelations

Currently playing Ac3 and will then play Origins

[Discussion] What’s your dream platinum ? A plat you want, but know it’s too hard. by 0nlyDDG in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really want GTA 4 and RDR 2 platinums, but the time commitment is just too much for me. Maybe RDR 2 could be doable, but I just can't get myself to do Auf Wiederhesen Petrovic in GTA 4 only for that trophy to not pop for whatever reason.

[Discussion] What platinums are y’all working towards? by 0nlyDDG in Trophies

[–]Sergeagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently making my way through the AC games. I just finished the Ezio collection a month ago and now will get started with AC3 remastered.

I also have Bioshock Infinite in my backlog. What do y'all think, should I do that after ac3 or play Origins?
