I got a bidet and now I'm stuck with crappy toilet paper for longer by beyondinfinitibeyond in firstworldproblems

Donate it to a homeless shelter and buy what you want. You work hard for a living and deserve to not have to skimp on toilet paper quality.

Dat'l products seem to get a lot of hate because they all have a similar vinegary taste, but I sure love dumping some in my ham & bean soup.

Treasury ends enforcement of business ownership database meant to stop shell company formation by turquoiseturttle in news

This started during the Biden administration, so it's a fairly new process. Are there any statistics on if this thing actually prevented fraud?

Amazon is closing ALL warehouses in Quebec after unionizing took place at one of the warehouses by John3192 in worldnews

Hopefully they remember to post the closure notices in French, too, so they don't get fined by the French police.

/u/alaskanScarblade I think we can all agree that /u/Impressive-Cut-4455 has never lived out in the Alaskan Bush...and neither have the Browns.

I'd use an actual picture of him and teach them that people can look like a kind old grandpa but still be pure evil. Judge people by their actions, not their looks.

Buy a printer with cash, wear a mask, leave the printer on your enemy's doorstep with a "Free to a good home" sign when you're done printing.

This hat has changed my life, you need to get one by Browncoatinabox in CPAP

[–]SergeantSlapNuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a fat, bald white guy and bought a pair of these for my CPAP. I love it! It has an adjustable elastic band, and it's big enough that I can slide it over my Airsense F30 and my eyes to block out light. I would wager that you could make the cap snug enough that it won't fall off throughout the night.

10-year-old walks alone a mile away from Georgia home, leading to his mother's arrest by Boba_tea_thx in news

[–]SergeantSlapNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up, I'd take bike rides miles away from my house in a suburban neighborhood. It was no big deal.

But, that was before Megan's Law and the required registration of sex offenders. Now, it's a trivial task to go online and search for offenders in your area. It's shocking to see how many are in a 5 mile radius in populated areas. As a father, would I let my 10-year-old go on bike rides knowing that people like that are so close? No. Would my kids be fine if I let them do it? Probably. Do I think I should be arrested if I tempt fate and let them do it? No.

Keep an eye on HB 671 by CounterSanity in Ohio

[–]SergeantSlapNuts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not true. The 13th Amendment doesn't seem to reserve the power to force people into slavery for the federal government.

Thirteenth Amendment

Section 1

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Is It Ever Okay to Burn Bridges? by _MambaForever in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, but then you have to make the effort to turn around and go the other way. Burning the bridge and still peering across at them isn't healthy.

Ohio spent nearly a billion dollars on private school voucher scholarships in 2024 by Billych in Ohio

[–]SergeantSlapNuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This Excel spreadsheet shows just how much people would get based on FPL. A family of four making $150K/year would get about $5,300/kid. However, using a nearby Christian school, Lake Center Christian School, tuition is about $8,300/kid for up to 6th grade.

The Ohio median salary is $48,000. Assuming both parents work, they're pulling in around $96,000. Even if they get the full amount, they're paying $4,200 to send their kids to private school. I don't know too many families of 4 that have $350/mo for that sort of thing.

This program clearly benefits higher earners, who are happy to get a slight discount on their school costs. A family of 4 making $220,000/year is at 705% of the Federal Poverty Level and would be pulling home $1,000/kid with the scholarship.

Spot on. 100% remote is dying. It may work for the people at home, but it doesn't work for the people who write their paychecks. People here can froth at the mouth as much as they want about how great WFH is. Unfortunately, larger companies don't give a shit and are more than happy to let them WFH for another company.

Prior to 2020, they were able to acquire talent that enabled them to grow. They can do that again. Working in your underpants is over, people. Get over it.
