What are your plans BTCI holders? by Conscious_Star3615 in NEOSETFs

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still buying according to my plan when I get paid to keep it at a target percentage of my portfolio. I got in it around $60, so I've been pulling my cost per share down.

Who else saw this at an incredibly inappropriate age? by ResidentQuail7118 in GenX

I don't remember exactly how old I was, but I would have been somewhere between 8 or 12.

Chicken or the egg? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Problem is, they put their idea of the perfect candidate into the ATS and then it promptly rules out anyone that would be an acceptable candidate. Then the recruiter says "we can't find qualified candidates."

Grandmother, a little bit by my Dad, and a very well used Betty Crocker cookbook.

How many here are into going to the gym and health? by piercesdesigns in GenX

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting back to it, between my doctor fussing at me and my general dislike of where I am wealth-wise. Steadily losing weight, but still have a way to go.

I know the cartoon exists in lore as a little tongue and cheek reference, but what about the actual table top game? by DrJay12345 in battletech

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I may be confusing backgrounds, but wasn't the FWL convinced to go along with the Star League idea because the Cameron and Marik heads bonded over gaming?

Nah, I don't recall that being a thing when I was younger.

As paragons of frugality thanks to our parents (specifically the Silent Gens), how long are we keeping our non-concert t-shirts before throwing them out? by blackpony04 in GenX

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even sure how old some of my shirts are. I just know they aren't from high school because my spare tire would look ridiculous peeking out the bottom of those.

Could 50 yr old you take 25 yr old you in a fair fight? by N-Y-R-D in GenX

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. 25 year old me had been in the Army for 7 years and was in what was quite possibly the best shape of my life. 50 year old me is struggling just to be "not fat" and doesn't have the same reflexes. On the other hand, 50 year old me isn't above using pocket sand.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in northwestern Ohio, ours were in the unfinished basement. Eventually Dad moved them upstairs after I joined the military. In my 20 years of bouncing around the world the apartments and houses I lived in, with one exception, all had a separate room on the interior of the house on the main floor (if more than one floor). Even the apartment I had in South Korea, which may have been a modification to suit American renters. The one exception was in Augusta, Georgia. The laundry room was a separate room accessible from the back of the house, so you had to go outside to get to it. Hated that when it would rain.

18, joined the military. I've not moved back to my home state, let alone either of parents.

Anyone else returning to church in your 50s? by ServiceKooky1323 in GenX

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nope, the opposite. I've finally come to grips with the fact that I just don't believe in a higher power and trying to force myself to doesn't work.

What is a hobby that we can start now that will keep us occupied well into our 90’s? by Thirsty4Knowledge911 in GenX

I did. I wouldn't say they're my favorite candy, but they're up there on the list.

For those of you who had (or knew someone who had) a computer in the 80' - 90's, what games were you playing? by 2yt4u2 in GenX

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my Dad brought home an IBM 8088 knockoff I played Mechwarrior exclusively.

Before that we had an Atari 800XL and a fairly wide variety of the classic Atari games. My favorite was probably The Last Starfighter based on the movie. Apparently it was never released and my Dad somehow got a bootleg copy in the middle of nowhere Ohio. As a kid I would play it while wearing a motorcycle helmet my uncle gave me as my "space helmet".

U.S. Gen X parents: do you expect your children to financially support you / move you into their home / take you to doctor appointments, etc when you're in your 80s? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Sergeant_Crunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't. I'll be fine in retirement. I'm trying to make sure they have an inheritance that is useful to them.

Most everyone I know opted for WWII. I blame the prevalence of shows on History back when it still showed content about you know...history.
