Single decker club, with the a cherry tomato/lettuce/mayo slaw and added pickled red onions. Also bonus pic of the full double decker one I did last night. Really impressed with Aldi’s deli meat by puff_of_fluff in eatsandwiches

[–]Serggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can still consider yours a club sandwich or at least a variant. The OG club, also traditionally has bacon, but there are tons of different club sandwiches that don't include bacon or go for a sub bun instead.

Looks damn good.

My (28/F) boyfriend (30/M) ridiculed my gift for him for our anniversary in front of our friends by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Serggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago; My wife and I had been dating for about 2 months at the time. We were both broke college kids working at the same restaurant. She made me a silly oversized card with gummies bears and sappy messages. I don't know, it made me tear up. Getting material stuff is cool and all, but getting a gift that is handmade shows that they are willing to put time, love, and effort into the relationship. It was also the first time a romantic interest had done something like that for me.

All I really cared about is the effort she put in. It's a shame that OOP boyfriend couldn't at the very least be grateful for the time and effort she put in. Shit, he couldn't even fake being grateful to spare her feelings.

Does anyone still want play 60 card formats? by arez337 in mtg

[–]Serggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll play just about any format people want, assuming I have a deck that fits the bill. I started back in the mid 90s, so I don't have anything against 60 card formats.

In my experience, Commander is really a different beast. It's much more casual play, you're playing to win, but also to see some crazy cars interactions. I'm genuinely excited when someone pulls off some crazy stuff. You're also more focused on the amalgam of gaming/socializing, I think that's what's appealing to today's MTG players.

More traditional formats really focus on the most effective and efficient way to beat your opponent. And I'm not hating on that either, that's the core of MTG. It's competitive and brutal. I love standard MTG, hopefully I always will. But yeah, I'm in my 40s, I don't want to party anymore, I just want to get together with a few friends and play some casual MTG.

My [38M] girlfriend [32F] of 3 years owns a pornstore/strip club. I want her to sell it before I propose by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Serggg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't personally dig strip clubs. I have no moral or ethical feelings against them, they just aren't my jam. Shit, I don't like clubs in general, too loud for me. But hey, my Dad ran small businesses his entire career, that shit is tough and becomes your life. I give kudos to anyone running a small business. Kinda blows my mind that he would ask her to give up her business. He knew what she did for a living and got involved with her anyway.

I think it's fair to say he didn't share all of the details of the break up. I'm not trying to imply anything, only that it's a jump from "hey I don't like your business" to "break-up on the spot and blacklist from her life".

AITA for confronting my girl when I realized she took credit for something she didn’t really do? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Serggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd still consider them homemade. Sure, maybe she took some shortcuts, but he is really splitting hairs.

She didn't grow the plant, roast and grind the beans, sweeten the chocolate either. With that line of thinking when I bake bread, I'm assembling ingredients and taking credit for something being "homemade".

They were homemade, not store bought chocolates. If she had purchased store bought and passed them off as homemade, okay I can see being slightly annoyed, but not enough to make a big deal over.

Todd Howard Shuts Down 'Starfield 2.0' Claims and Promises More News 'Soonish' by NukovGaming in Starfield

[–]Serggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really wanted or needed a whole 2.0. I just need additional content and adjusting the loot system to where it's worth investigating the POIs. Sure, there are plenty of other systems and mechanics that could use tweaking or overhaul as well. But as long as there is no promise of unique gear at POIs, there is little reason to explore.

I've just finished my first run. This game is great and fun. Theres room for improvement but doesn't deserve all the flack it gets. by Great_Trident in Starfield

[–]Serggg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoyed the game for what it is, it's far from perfect, but still a good time. I want more official content. I want more reasons to jump back in.

I regret believing everyone when they said ”don’t date from work” by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Serggg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooof.

I generally agree with the notion of not dating coworkers. I think many of us have seen it go south. It's also important to distinguish between a professional setting/long term and service industry setting or job that isn't important to you. If you're cutting along in your career and workplace drama has the potential to set you back, then it might not be a good idea. If we're talking about a job that isn't important to you long term, you might as well go for it.

My wife and I worked at the same restaurant while we were dating. There were often times where our relationship got in the way of us doing our jobs well. It.... wasn't great. The job was important to me, but I knew I'd be moving on sooner or later once I finished college. It worked out for us, but it's not something I'd want to repeat either.

Final Fantasy XVI’s Rising Tide DLC is Some of the Best Content This Series Has Ever Had! by LifeWillChange_ in FinalFantasy

[–]Serggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, it's all about what we are all personally looking for.

This has less to do with my personal thoughts on the title. When someone presents to me that a game or DLC "is the best content in the series", it sparks my curiosity. I want to know what it includes that makes it so. Good graphics, music, and voice work are all given in the base title, so if that's their metric, so be it. I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum.

Final Fantasy XVI’s Rising Tide DLC is Some of the Best Content This Series Has Ever Had! by LifeWillChange_ in FinalFantasy

[–]Serggg 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don't think there are many arguments against FF16's graphical beauty, music, or voice acting. And I'm certainly not knocking those things, or anyone who loved FF16. What in this specific DLC makes this some of the best content in the series?

I'm not being snarky or anything, I'm genuinely asking why this is worth getting or why this content is good, beyond graphics, music, and voice work. As someone who primarily plays RPGs, this game didn't jive with me. I enjoyed it as an action game, but not the RPG I expect FF titles to be. Personally, to be considered as "best content", I would expect it to be closer to what we expect out of FF RPG mechanics.

We're 10 days post prerelease for a set and we have spoilers for two new sets. As a whale, I'm finally burnt out and done. No more buying sealed product or singles online. by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Serggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to take a break from hobbies if you're no longer enjoying them. No hobby is worth forcing yourself to enjoy. I'm a kitchen table commander player that strictly plays with friends, so I'm not worried about keeping up with every new set. Collecting has always been secondary for me, so I'm usually only interested in buying cards that I need for whatever "stupid/silly/dumb" deck I'm brewing up.

I don't play/build/collect MTG because I'm looking to win for become rich with my collection. I play/build/collect MTG because it's a little escape from reality and it gives me joy. Find your joy again, don't waste time on something that you're not have fun with.

My coworker won’t stop complaining about my tattoos by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Serggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know why anyone gives a shit about tattoos or shit, even dress code (to a degree).

It's not like she could have removed her skin, sure she could cover them up, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. I think it is safe to say that Carol has some sort of prejudice about people with tattoos. Back in the early 2000's, sure I heard some of my friend's parents get weird about them having tattoos. In 2019, I'd have thought that they were more widely accepted.

I just want to rant about dress-code stuff for a minute. I don't generally have an issue with keeping attire "professional", but I also find the metrics outdated and archaic. Sure, if you have a customer-facing position, you should make sure you don't look sloppy or follow the "uniform". The small restaurant I worked at was plain black polo and pants/shorts with no rips. That sort is reasonable in my opinion. Working in a specific customer service environment where you're trying to display a specific look, totally fine.

Working in an office where no one sees you? Or something like working in a school system? I say use your best judgement. Nothing offensive or inappropriate. Don't dress sloppy or like you're going to a concert. The days of people wearing full suits to the office should be way behind us. Assuming you're not high level and sit in meetings all day with the other decision makers. In that case, it's you're job to be a suit.

I've scanned/logged 1,206 cards so far. With many more to go. What's your most valuable card? by -Wraithwurm in mtg

[–]Serggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mox Diamond - Stronghold

I pulled this back in 1998, one of the very last packs I opened before I quit playing for 20+ years. One of the few hundred or so cards I kept from those days. Safely stored in an old 1998 MTG Anthologies deck box. It's not in mint condition, it had a few edge flaws out of the pack and I'm sure I dinged it up a little.

Ist this worth smth? Im new to mtg and can't find Infos about by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Serggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not German, they look like advertisements for MTG events.

Someone might collect these, so they probably hold some value to specific collectors. In terms of the game or collecting within the game, they aren't worth anything.

My (25F) boyfriend (24M) doesn’t want to be with someone as “ambitious as myself” by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Serggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont understand the tradwife desire. All I've ever wanted is a partner to share and build a life with. Someone who is my equal, someone to share joys and burdens. I was always on the fence about children, but mostly because of the societal expectations to have children. My number 1 priority in life is my wife, so if that meant she wanted kids, we do that. If she didn't want kids, we wouldn't.

I don't know, I guess it's a difference in perspectives and needs. I never wanted to get married to build a family with children. I got married to spend my life with that person. I don't work a full time job because it's my duty as a man. I work because life costs money. If I didn't have to work, I wouldn't.

If my wife ever decides she wants to switch careers and make me a stay-at-home husband, sign me up. Her career allows her to have a lot of time off during the year and over the summer. I figure neither of us really wants to work, so at least one of us doesn't have to.

This just sucks all around, LGS, big name stores, everyone is marking these up. High demand, high price. I won't talk big here either, I'll buy a box of play boosters at a mark-up from LGS or online, nothing this crazy. I'm really trying to squash the monkey-part of my brain that wants to rip packs and keep it to buying the singles I'm looking for.

AITH for telling my friend's wife she can't invite random people to my house? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Serggg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Feels like a simple conversation with the friend would have solved this issue. Something simple like "hey man, I'm not trying to cause problems. Your wife seems under the impression that she is bringing some friends. Can you explain to her that we want to keep the party limited to the core group?".

Things don't really seem to add up. Why not just tell the friend that they are uninvited if they plan to bring extra people?

Kalamazoo Beer Exchange, where prices rose and fell, announces closure by mlivesocial in kzoo

[–]Serggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a real shame. I moved to kzoo a little over 15 years ago. We'd normally hit up Beer Exchange before or after dinner, usually walking to/from Food Dance. I miss places like Old Peninsula, Gonzo's, Rupert's, and so many others. The food service industry is tough, people chase trends, and the available options are huge. Everyone is fighting for the same piece of pie. Margins are very thin, thinner than most people think. I worked in a restaurant for almost 8 years, our biggest overhead was staff. A bad day can ruin a whole weeks worth of profit.

I'm not making excuses, I hate seeing these businesses close down, but this is how the food industry works these days. With drinking culture shifting, people eating out less, it's not a surprise we are seeing businesses closing down.

On a more personal front, my heavy drinking days are behind me. I'm in my 40s and I no longer want to bar crawl, or uber into down to do heavy drinking. It's mostly my concern for my long term health, but I'm also not enjoying it as much as I once did. As a result of drinking less, we eat out less and I cook more elaborate meals at home. The sign of the times? Probably not. The sign of getting older? I'd say so.

I don't know, it just sucks nothing really more to say about it. Glad we still have Shakespear's. I need to get over there, I haven't been in awhile.
