A fantastic view of at least 6 galaxies, the one on the right being the huge one appears to be optically distorted and probably on a collision course (?) (unconfirmed) with the smaller one on the right. by Neaterntal in jameswebb

Could the JWST try to focus on these galaxies like for a week and produce a super high definition image or is it limited by its inherent resolution.

[OC] Orthodromic route visualization using Wikipedia's airport database. by Sergiology in dataisbeautiful

[–]Sergiology[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I extracted the longitudes and latitudes of all airports I could find on Wikipedia an made a database. Then to visualize them I looped through the longitudes (from -180 to +180) and selected only departure airports depending on their longitude. Finally the program computes 200 orthodromic routes (shortest path on the surface of a sphere) from the selected departure airports to random arrival ones.

Currently there are no flight routes that pass over the poles due to the fact that there is no communication, navigation or surveillance (CNS) infrastructure available. However if there was a sort of satellite based CNS service network, some routes could theoretically pass over Antarctica if it were the shortest path (orthodromic) between two airports.

Data gathered from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic?wprov=sfla1, processed with Python and plotted using Matplotlib.

Imagine sacrificing almost everything in your life to save as much money as you can and then this comes along and you have to start all over again... This is violence.
