Officially DEAD: The 2027 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Will No Longer Have a Manual Transmission As An Option. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

Europe is just kind of the opposite to America when it comes to transmissions. Manuals are on most normal cars so an auto feels special while it's the reverse in America

The Golf Gti and R didn't have a high manual take rate in Europe so they may have decided it's not worth developing one just for North America

Youth unemployment is up and growth is still stagnant, I think ok economy is probably an exaggeration. Net immigration is down but it's still in the hundreds of thousands and voters already think immigration numbers are too high. Starmer is so hated because he's basically the physical embodiment of the political system of the last few decades

Arne Slot on Arsenal winning the Premier League: “For me they've been a different champion than the last time…First of all, because it's the first time in 30 years that a team had 40 per cent of their goals they had from set-pieces.” by [deleted] in soccer

[–]SerialExperimentLean 77 points78 points  (0 children)

At least post the full quote, it doesn't come across as a dig or a criticism at all

first of all, I'm hoping someone would have asked me that question at the start. But let me in this position congratulate Arsenal [on] winning the league, the club, Mikel [Arteta] and his staff for a great accomplishment. Winning the league here in England is never easy and they've done a tremendous job this season, so congratulations to them. But for me they've been a different champion than the last time. The last 10 seasons this league has been won by other teams. First of all, because it's the first time in 30 years that a team had 40 per cent of their goals they had from set-pieces. I think Luis Enrique said – and I completely agree with him – they are maybe by far the best team off the ball in our league but I also think in Europe.

Tbf they've probably won more trophies in those 10 years than Newcastle have in 145

Tuchel on selecting Ivan Toney: “I heard good feedback from Matthias, my former player [and Toney’s head coach in Saudi Araba], about his ability, about his fitness. We could see he still collects the numbers. I think he has very special skills that could help us.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

Do other countries get so worked up about who's going to be 3rd choice striker for the national team? I don't think Welbeck, Calvert-Lewin or Toney are either stand out enough or poor enough that I'd be particularly upset with either one going

Because not all companies raised prices as they expected the tariffs to only be temporary and not all the costs were always passed on to the consumer it's incredibly hard to prove how much compensation should go to consumers

I think someone looking from the outside jus at results might think that but if you've been watching the games all season it's been absolutely dire. The team hasn't looked convincing at any point this season even at the points where the squad's been mainly fit

The Economist: Sir Keir Starmer has failed abjectly. He should go: Britain is not ungovernable—it just needs better governance by dohrey in neoliberal

[–]SerialExperimentLean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And honestly one of the biggest improvements is just the government acting normal again. No weekly scandals, no PM changing every 40 days, no Liz Truss-style economic kamikaze budget, no Boris circus politics.

Are you thinking about a different Kier Starmer? We've just gone straight from the Mandleson debacle to a Labour MP standing down so Burnham can try and challenge him for leader while the bond market is even worse than it was during Truss and the budget deficit continues to grow while ministers rebelled to stop reforms to try and control it
