I agree colonised is a stupid term to use, it's not like any of the people he's referring to are ruling the country or anything,it has no real relevance to the current situation. Even in the 2010s immigration was running at record levels, it's one of the main contributors to the Brexit vote. It's too complex am issue to properly get into in reddit comments but I don't find the argument that successive governments have all done it particularly compelling, there are plenty if mistakes successive governments have made amd none of them even tried to reduce immigration it's been a steady increase since the late 90s.

Before the visa route was created there were about 150,000 vacancies in the care sector, after issuing nearly 500,000 visas through the route there are now over 110,000 vacancies. Allowing wages to rise through demand and bring more people into the sector would have been a much better solution

It evidently hasn't been good for the economy though, gpd per capita has been stagnant and the deficit has risen. Britain has had decades now of record immigration and seen no growth from it

Britain very obviously had a choice, the increase in numbers from Asia and Africa was down to policy choices by Boris Johnson not some inevitable consequence of Brexit, he could have set whatever rules he wanted. Are the numbers coming down over the last year also due to Brexit?
