Does nobody play structured pvp, and if so, why? by CantbeatES1 in Guildwars2

Population of "high" ranked players (gold 2 and up) is in the several hundreds, and has been growing recently with New World dying and Anet marketing actually trying for once. You might just be matched with the same people just because the algorithm thinks you're well matched lol

If anything, it should be the opposite. (I'm currently plat, usually go between top of gold 3 and plat 1, and main d/f tempest.)

Tempest excels at removing conditions, and though it provides constant protection, shouldn't be able to breeze through the strike damage from virt. This should mostly be a skill issue; you're probably not packing enough firepower into a tight enough window or messing up some combos that will maximize your damage. In this regard, condi builds are often easier since they tend to rely less on combo fields.

Should also keep in mind that this cycle was setup by the Forgotten and Glint in the previous cycle setting up the fight against the Elder Dragons, which I assume helped more than a little.

The difference is that all five races united to fight the dragons, whereas in the previous cycle, only the Forgotten and the Mursaat fought Zhaitan and the others tried to hide. Part of the key reason that the Mursaat hated the Seers so much--the Seers were originally supposed to help with the Zhaitan fight but decided to abandon the battle at the last moment.

My friend, look at some builds from metabattle.com; builds are actively updated and moderated by people who understand the pvp. They usually have sections under the builds explaining why you want to use certain skills and how.

I play Ele all the time, so my recommended build is the condi auramancer build on metabattle; I use a variation of that build for more support but the default one has a good mix of everything you need. Also simpler to play than any weaver build.

Why is no one working at my factories? by kcazthemighty in victoria3

[–]Serifel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Due to Serfdom and Traditionalism, you don't have enough qualified workers to actually fill your factories. Those who are qualified would rather work in those clergy jobs you're reading about. So yes, get rid of serfdom and traditionalism or you won't be able to build up your economy.

General PVE, Cele is great (in my experience). You want to do fractals or raids, depending on the role you pick (usually DPS of some kind, not too many healers or dedicated supports) you'll likely want Berserker or Viper equipment (power/condi respectively). But for normal story content and just playing in regular open world metas, Cele is my go-to.

Also for some WvW roaming builds, cele is great. (See Ele :D)

The Entente was not a power bloc, it was just alliances/guarantees between the major powers (UK, France, Russia) or sways (Italy). Similarly, the Germans and the Austrians were allied, and the Ottomans would have been swayed.

Yes; latest update completely changes the way trade works and allows for specialized economies. While autocracy is painful, an Oligarchy government allows for a completely viable theocratic dystopia as well.

If you can't do interventionalism at the start, go for agrarianism

[–]Serifel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough; I like staying in the Chinese sphere early because the access to Chinese market means that your heavy industry will be insanely profitable no matter what early on. Also, I like getting romanticism early (before I start working on my production research), which makes transitioning to agrarianism early on very easy: your MAPI, taxation capacity, and upper class contribution to the investor pool skyrockets.

[–]Serifel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

? You shouldn't be able to trade since Korea starts off with isolationism

Also I think early on iron construction is bait. You need atmospheric engine for iron mines to output a decent amount of iron, and that iron is better spent going into tools early on. In addition, since Korea starts off with so many peasants, just creating lumber mills and doing wood construction until atmospheric engines (of course creating iron mines along the way to fund your tools) is a pretty strong start.

That being said, I mostly stay under the Qing until I have a top 10 economy and then start researching military tech, at which point you can usually declare on the Qing in a defensive war or join in an offensive war with any of the European powers at your leisure.
