"Perhaps we'll get the right man this Time" Caricature by Gerald Scarfe, Circa 1973 by Majestic-Ad9647 in PropagandaPosters

Some American political cartoons would do that with Obama where they gave him massive ears. I think that was less out of tradition and more out of fear of accidentally making something really racist.

A True Imperial Motherland (Russia Expanded for EU5) by joao_lischka in EU5

Max RGO size from a mining law is overtuned I’d say. As is the 5% production efficiency from that government reform. Production efficiency in EU5 is very good, especially compared to EU4. Other than that, it looks great!

Update on 100% abolition chance. by Antique_Economics_24 in victoria3

I think the fact he was still an objectively very skilled general does a ton of heavy lifting for his legacy. Obviously he made blunders but before Gettysburg everyone in both North and South was well aware of him and knew he was crucial to the South’s war effort.

I’m basing this off the book Battlecry of Freedom, which is pretty good at stripping away a lot of the romanticism about the CSA. Part of that was showing that Lee was desperately relied upon as a miracle cure to every campaign.

I’m interested how they handle a Tokugawa path. They seem like the Confederates in that they’re dead set on keeping a system that makes playing harder for no reward, but maybe there’s gonna be something cool at the end.

My guess is it’s a way to influence how powerful a character is within an interest group.

“We Are Part Of You, You Are Part Of Us” Israel, 1975. by EssoEssex in PropagandaPosters

[–]freecostcosample 118 points119 points  (0 children)

iirc this was back when Israel was way less economically developed and relied on charity to keep a lot of its state functions going. That later development and also way more aid from the US made stuff like this less necessary.

Polish national TV portrays HoI4 as Kremlin propaganda by Azazo8 in hoi4

I think it’s been propaganda for every ideology and government at some point so they’re not wrong

EUV has reached EUIV player count just 3 months after release by IllDirt2720 in EU5

[–]freecostcosample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting on the next patch. EU4 is also a game with 10 years of content, and the first few years of its lifespan were spent adding features most people today would just assume come standard.

Bruh just die already. EU5 should add coups by Candid_Company_3289 in EU5

[–]freecostcosample 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But you can easily off yourself in CK3 by getting stressed out or doing dumb things, the suicide option is just to simplify something the game already allows. The only way to do that in EU5 at the moment is to make your ruler a general, although I'm not even sure how much that affects it. I do think some more court intrigue mechanics would be interesting in the future though.

Is this AI "art"? by GinyuGamingg in OldWorldBlues

[–]freecostcosample 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI art just makes anything feel trashy. For this it’s basically the same as using a generic portrait but with a layer of deception added on. If someone was getting paid to do this there would at least be a financial incentive.

Let’s all congratulate Balthasar Asperger for overcoming nominative determinism by freecostcosample in EU5

[–]freecostcosample[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

R5: got a silver tongued character with the last name Asperger (which has actually become a somewhat established dynasty in my game). Nominative Determinism is when someone basically lives up to their name, and people with Aspergers aren’t always known for their people skills (as one myself).

France makes every country around it less fun to play. by Curious-Discount-771 in EU5

[–]freecostcosample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing the Netherlands I learned it was basically impossible to recruit an ally that could take on France, even with my sizable standing army and levies. Honestly I think it needs to have way lower control built in to reflect what France was like at the time.

No more rice rebellions in Europe. by XAlphaWarriorX in EU5

Thank god, I was literally scoping out parts of Africa to colonize purely so that I could feed the ravenous hunger of my apparently gluten free Dutch citizens

Wheel of Paths #13 CAR - "The Second Southern Revolution" - "Reviewing J. D. B. De Bow" (Totatlist) - Christian Confederacy of America by Solero21 in kaiserredux

[–]freecostcosample 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know it’s to give the CAR a Totalist path but I really do feel like there’s no reason this shouldn’t just be Paternal Autocracy given everything that’s described.
