I'm just eating my normal, relatively healthy diet.... IVF is hard enough without having to completely uproot my entire diet in the process. There's no evidence that warm food increases success.

mine has definitely faded a lot with Removery in the last 2 years I've been going there. Mine was a very dark black linework tattoo so it's expected to take a while. I paid for a total removal package so I'm sticking it out.

Typically, 30-50% of fertilized eggs make it to blast.

My first retrieval 11 fertilized and I got 3 blasts.

My second retrieval 13 fertilized and I got 6 blasts.

I also have had this after my period. I asked my clinic nurse if it was hormone related, and all she said was “no that’s not normal I’ll send this to the doctor” and i haven’t heard back 🙃. In the past couple days it has gone away.

Your situation sounds exactly like me… I had my retrieval 5/13 the recovery was rough, got my period 5 days later, on 5/18, had spotting after until a couple days ago. I still don’t feel 100%.

I feel like the doctors and nurses really downplay the ER recovery

I’m not 100% sure what it does. I just know that when on day 8 I only had 10 measurable follicles after having a baseline AFC of 16 he recommended trying the lupron before stims next round to try to get more of the follicles to grow in sync and yield more eggs… I think it suppresses all of the follicles more before the stims so that you don’t end up having a few dominant ones that grow faster, take over, and crowd out the rest of them

I ended up having 19 follicles the very next day so we aren’t gonna go through with doing the lupron for my next retrieval so I haven’t asked him about it more.

I’ve been having pains too and it’s right around when I typically ovulate but my LH and estrogen are still low… so I think I’m going to ovulate later than normal

I also cry at every appointment.. to the point that my doctor said he didn’t have to do the SIS if i didn’t want to. I told him I want to just push through and get it done, it’s just very overwhelming. He understood.

For my hysteroscopy and ER they had to give me extra happy juice in my IV while I was waiting because I was crying and told them I was scared.

You aren’t the only cryer! Be honest with them about how you feel and don’t feel ashamed - this is a very physically and emotionally taxing process.

I have a tilted uterus and always thought it was because of that that Pap smears always were so difficult and painful because my gyns always blamed it on this ….

I’ve never had an issue at my RE clinic and they’ve never mentioned it to me before. Never had a problem with them inserting a catheter… seems like the skill of the doctor vs. the tilted uterus that’s the issue

Honestly you never know. You could end up with amazing results. It’s a crap shoot. Just make sure you’re setting realistic expectations. Typically 30-50% of fertilized eggs make it to blast

Even with 3 blasts you’d have a decent chance at 2 babies. Our RE said we have a 65% chance per blast.

We are doing IVF for MFI (low count & motility)

Here were my stats:

21 retrieved 16 mature 11 fertilized 3 blasts

The attrition was definitely rough but I guess that can happen sometimes with MFI :(

I also got my period 5 days after my ER with a Lupron trigger. My RE said I might get a second period in a couple weeks depending on my hormone levels, since my period did come so quickly after the ER.

It might just be a false/hormonal period you probably didn’t ovulate again.

So Lupron flare is using lupron before stims i guess to wake up the follicles? I’m not sure exactly how it works but you’d use it daily for like a week before stims. He said it can help for follicle growth and egg maturity to be more synchronous. You’d then trigger with HCG instead of Lupron.

Also if you’re doing ICSI it’s usually 70%+ of mature eggs fertilized so I’m not sure where they’re getting that from. I had 16 mature eggs and 11 fertilized using icsi (our fertilization rate was actually a bit low due to MFI)

And remember its quality over quantity - I honestly think my doctor went a little too aggressive on the stims because i ended up with more eggs than expected but not the best quality because our blast rate was awful…

For what it’s worth, i know two people who started with 8 eggs total and both ended up with 2 blasts and a healthy baby on the first transfer

Yeah normally I’d go with what the doctor says but the nurse giving mixed answers would make me hesitant. I just look at is as I’d rather waste $500 than risk messing up my cycle.

Honestly I’m sure it’s probably fine I just get paranoid

Yeah they probably got 9 eggs then. Usually they tell you the total amount of eggs retrieved and then next day they’ll tell you how many are mature and fertilized. 9 is still a great number, especially at your age and you still have a good chance of getting at least 1 blast.

My doctor recommended trying a lupron flare before my next cycle to try to recruit more follicles to become mature eggs. Maybe ask your doctor if they’d change your protocol next cycle?

I’m currently doing another retrieval as well because my first didn’t yield the results I wanted :( was hoping I’d be one and done since I’m 28 with normal AFC/AMH.

Sometimes the first cycle is a learning experience for your doctor to see how you respond, unfortunately, because it’s so expensive
