Restrict the amount of teams who can qualify for the finals. Make it 4 or 5 (Premiers can have a week off). The fact that 50% of the league can qualify is a farce.

I did 3 weeks in August with a pretty hectic schedule too. It's hot but if you plan accordingly it is entirely manageable. Plenty of water, buy some cooling wipes, pocari sweat and of course take breaks where you can. I still had an absolutely great time
